I'm fucking 22 and I've played all BF games, I loved 1942 in particular. BC2 having a campaign, and a good one at that, was novel considering the past games singleplayer were just skirmishes or "campaigns" that were historically ordered skirmishes.
Games tend to get simpler as they attract wider audiences but this doesn't stop the game from being enjoyable. If you dislike it so much, there is literally nothing stopping you from not playing it seeing as BF will never go back to how it was, in the same way the vast majority of game series will never live up to the original title.

Dice could get better at creating campaigns, there are good bits in all of them they just happen to be uninteresting. It is value. If the campaign is cut never have I seen that effort gone into multiplayer on any game. $60 standard for AAA games that game co-op, single player and of course multiplayer.
Battlefront is a great example of my point, there was no campaign, what went wrong there then? why 10 maps, plus a season pass. Often dev teams work separately to craft the campaign and the multiplayer, they are not the same people, what it means is that you don't get double the effort, if anything they get to work on the season pass content right away, if not another game.

What if Battlefield V : Divinity
The guy is a WW1 era dude, he's terrified because the heavens came down.
The Annunaki returned and made the guy the chosen one. They took his soul and split it apart, each souls living in different era, fighting in a different faction.
First expansion is BF V: Primeval.
He will fight mammoths and learn to make fire.
Second expansion is the Medieval, and so on.
The last expansion will be controversial.
It's called BF V: Infidels. You'll be playing as a teenage Arab named Mohammed. You'll be joining ISIS and wreck the nation of Europe.
And then the Annunaki will restore you whole again. They'd ask if you want humanity to be saved and the only way to do so is to wipe humankind off the planet Earth.
It's your choice.
