DAWN OF WAR 3 IS CONFIRMED
>BLIZZARD FAGS ON SUICIDE WATCH.
Why do the SM look so lanky?
dude space marines lmao
POST YOUR FACE WHEN DAWN OF WAR 2 FAGS GOT BLOWN THE FUCK TO PIECES
>The designers want Dawn of War 3 to be their most accessible RTS yet

Sounds great
>>336357235
The guard are the only ones that let the surviving space marines came back to their chapters in their stronhold ending (and there is also the fact that there was a convention where the IG was held as the victors).
So Stubbs won
>>336357364
this
their legs and arms are thin as fuck
>Super units
Ah, yes, a feature that is unanimously agreed to be a poor addition to any RTS
good
Hopefully it won't be as shitty as DoW2 was.

This.
>>336357842
oh no
WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH
The designers talk about Dawn of War 3 armies in terms of line and elite units. Line units deliver continuous damage and try not to die; elite units deliver decisive strikes. Certain combinations of elite units will suit rush strategies, others will be more powerful lategame options. For example, returning Space Marine hero Gabriel Angelos is a close combat master that gives you a lot of power right away, so you might want to give another slot to a late-game ranged monster like the Imperial Knight.
You have three elite slots, which must be assigned before each battle. They are designed to let you define your play style, and to support a variety of strategies for each race. In the single player campaign you collect a wide range of elites that can be levelled up—an attempt to emulate the pleasure of collecting and building armies in the tabletop game. Elites can be individual heroes, crack units such as Assault Terminators, or super units.
For multiplayer, inspired by Dota's hero selection phase, Relic designers are considering an element of pick and counter-pick to the pre-battle screen, though they're yet to show exactly how this will work.
For Warhammer fans, units shown included Tactical Marines (with optional plasma weapon/flamethrower upgrades), Devastator Squads with lascannons, Dreadnoughts, Assault Marines, Gabriel Angelos, the Imperial Knight. On the Eldar side there were Guardians, Howling Banshees, Wraithguard, Falcons and Jetbikes. Unit upgrades give these line squads some tactical variation. Plasma weapons allow Tactical Marines to do more damage when stationary, but they they take the flamethrower instead they can lock down territory with fiery area-of-effect damage
>For multiplayer, inspired by Dota's hero selection phase
It's ogre
>>336358073
Ah yes, Hero selection, the fundamental aspect that makes Dota Dota.
The screenshots look cartoonish and horrible
But if it looks good in motion that will make up for it
>BLIZZARD FAGS ON SUICIDE WATCH.
I hate Blizzard but I think they'd actually be laughing, considering the manchildren and neckbeards that GW appeal to, and jew out of money even harder than Blizzard does. Oh and the fact that DoW2 was a failure.

>vaguely describes the tactical use of line units
They're going to be units spat out of a building automatically like a moba, while you and you "elites" run around and fight. Most of your army will essentially be ai controlled.

Can't wait to play this, been replaying Warcraft 3 lately and will relish playing this.
Dost thou upset?
>>336358728
It will, but you wont be controlling like 70% of your army. they will most likely spawn and try to fight the enemy automatically from buildings you build.

BLIZZARD FAGS ON SUICIDE WATCH.
I see the hype but I don't see the gameplay.
Why does it happen /v/?
Every single time, it's like someone is playing a cruel trick on us over and over again. The trailer gave us the idea of this battlefield of immense proportion and fidelity, then we see the screenshots and it's basically starcraft 2: the MOBA
I don't think I've had my hype escalate and plummet in such a short time before.
>>336359382
Stay optimistic, it's large scale battles with the customization depth from dow2, and even though it looks kind of shitty, in motion it probably looks great, and I bet it plays nicely
>Lane units
Are people just covering their eyes and ignoring this or do they actually think it's ok?
>>336359341
Lurk more faggot.
>>336357204
Blizzard fag reporting in, we still don't care about Warhammer 40k. Please stop involving us.

There's nothing to gain from being optimistic in this situation, only disappointment
It's much smarter to be realistic
Somebody help me out here, I really don't get this notion.
I'm a huge Starcraft fan and love every iteration of it, but I'm hyped as fuck for DoW3. Why wouldn't an RTS fan want more RTS games?
>>336357204
>BLIZZARD FAGS ON SUICIDE WATCH.
Why?
>>336359863
Because RTS like Starcraft are shit, Dawn of War 2 was perfect in scale and depth.
>>336357873
line units mean standard units.

>>336360302
you probably will end up having huge numbers of units or long drawn out fights.
>>336360349
Don't get your hopes up. they used that wording as a soft admission to their crime of turning dow into a fucking pseudo-moba

But base building is confirmed, so what the fuck?
>>336360480
see, people like you will always compare Dawn of war 2 to a moba, even though when it came out, LoL was not even released and MoBA was a nonexistent term

the things I would do to her
>>336357204
>BLIZZARD FAGS ON SUICIDE WATCH.
Is this really necessary? I don't think the average blizzard fan cares about 40k
So does the game have base building? The trailer shows nothing.
>>336360654
I would bet anything that the base you construct is nothing more than preset plots on a map for creep spawns and defenses while you and your "elites" go off and do some gay moba shit.
>>336360654
Where exactly is it confirmed, because definitely not in that quote.

They literally didnt mention it in the trailer. And whats up with this "unit collecting" shit people are talking about? If it is base building, why is everyone butthurt?

gotta love CA and lelic
The equivalent of this would be if Creative Assembly had released Total War: Arena as Total War: Rome 2
>>336361458
That didn't answer to anything I asked.
I remember going to a Games Workshop about 6 years ago and asked one dude working there how he felt about Blizzard stealing almost all their ideas. I guess there were almost lawsuits way back when, but instead they just go to each others' studios to play either Warhammer or StarCraft with each other.

also,i didn't know t b h gets converted to desu
>>336357204
BLIZZARD FAGS ON SUICIDE WATCHBut honestly I'm not hyped at all. They openly said they want to make the game as accessible as possible and they're taking inspiration from DOTA2, for fuck's sake. I'll stick with Battlefleet Gothic for my 40k vidya for now, at least that doesn't try to pander to casuals.
>>336359382
Why put effort into a dead genre? Do you think people make games because they like it?

>mfw chaos will be dlc for multiplayer only

>The campaign moves between factions from mission to mission as each army converges on the same planet to retrieve a mysterious weapon.
What is it? Can't be Titan again.
>>336362569
It wont be optional, it will be a core mechanic. I am confident enough to say that I can read between the lines of what they're saying in the article better than you and I have thoroughly, categorically deduced how this game will play based on two screenshots, a pc gamer article and a cgi launch trailer.
>>336362841

>>336363474
I was exaggerating a bit purely for comedic value, forgive me.
But I will say the PC gamer article is filled with carefully worded PR speak and subtle admissions of the game's features.
For example, they have given away the detail that "line troops" will be moba style creeps.
>Line units deliver continuous damage and try not to die
What do they mean by "Try not to die" if they aren't controlled by AI?
>Bases are back. They produce your workaday line units
So bases just produce creeps then?
>>336363849

Oh look. It is another faggot who knows the game from 2 screenshots and an announcement trailer
>>336364626
Well let's hope it's all just marketing bullshit to rope in the mobafags and the people who find RTS games too complicated.
>>336363910
Ah,I'm sorry for not picking that up.
Regardless,I am in agreement on the core idea, that the more control the better.Even then,I can't help but find the automated combat idea intriguing, especially if done right, and making the elements that remain in your control more complex(pretty much what I'm saying is making something simpler, add more in another part to balance).
>>336357513
>tfw shit posting from the toilet at work and i have no reaction folder
> The system has been simplified in Dawn of War 3 to allow for clearer counter-play. Cover in the demo I saw consisted of circular barricade structures that units can capture. Units in cover are resistant to ranged fire, but can be quickly eliminated by close-combat squads.
So we're going back to DOW 1 tier cover system?
Wow.
When one day someone makes a thread that says "Where were you when RTS died?", I will know.
I will know.
