These people always bewilder me. They're playing a massively shit game that they've sunk cost fallacy'd a bunch of hype into and they just can't believe it's a shit game. They're so deep in their delusions that every accurate negative opinion about their angel is immediately the result of the opposition. Overwatch is decent, but it's fucking leagues better than Battleshit.
My friend was actually like this about Firefall. Dude was so pumped from day 1 it was announced. He'd talk about it for weeks and weeks before each alpha and beta test. He got into every one and played relentlessly and left tons of feedback on the forums. Then we(the rest of our group) got into one of the betas and it turned out to be at the bare minimum, marginally fun. Each beta it got worse though and I lost interest. This didn't stop my buddy though. When the obvious cash grab founder's packs were announced he bought us all the most expensive copies so we could play together. We told him not to, but so strong was his faith in the game that he dropped nearly $600 dollars on it for us all to play together. Feeling coerced we all played with him for about a week before we all started dropping out. He kept playing for a few more months, but constant useless tweaks and the glamour wearing off caused him to realize what an idiot he had been.

The secret is to accept that you won't be able to kill players effectively and just focus on nuking as many bots as you can. Every time I played her in the beta I'd wind up with like 3x the minion kills of everyone else on the team, and they'd all push the enemies back.
Also leave it as a backward jump and just use it when you need to escape/when you want to lower the cooldown of your pillars.
