What the hell happened to the RTS genre? What was once a genre dominated by thought and strategy, is now replaced with MOBAs where ansty kids flame each other and pay exhuberant prices for shitty skins.

I don't think we'll ever fully revive the RTS genre since casuals certainly won't fully learn how to play on and instead will move on to mobas, CoD, for some other game that doesn't require too much thought.
But I don't think the genre will completely die cause they will always be a community enjoying RTS games.

RTS is the hardest genre to sell ever. Its stuck in a limbo between genres appealing to casuals (action, FPS, RPG etc) and genres appealing to nerds (sims, 4X, grand etc) and appeals to no one in particular. Its hard to make it look flashy and cram some emotional story with cinematic scenes and characters in it, it does not provide instant gratification and requires time and dedication to be enjoyed.

It's because RTS games are near impossible to keep fresh. Every RTS game I have played has quickly devolved into a apm clickfest that's all about who can rush the correct meta build the fastest and bum rush the enemy. Only game that come even close to avoiding this was Warcraft 3 since it spiced up the game a little with RNG drops.

Starcraft and Warcraft 3 games on professional level throw all standards out the window because both players know them to the T. Instead its all about playing off each other

There's nothing historically wrong with the african kingdoms expansion (other than the fact that we know basically nothing about kingdoms like Mali other than it existed and it had a king named mansa musa who was apparently the richest motherfucker in the world)
The African coast has always had petty kingdoms like the Swahili city states which were part of Indian Ocean trade routes, and west african kingdoms like the aforementioned Mali. They definitely existed, the historical record of them is just extremely scarce. I mean, who do you think actually went in to the heart of darkness and captured the ooga booga bush people as slaves, shackled them, transported them to the coast, and sold them to white people? Plus, how would they even get them on those big ass slave ships? They would have had to have decent port cities with docks. It's not like you're going to load your ship with 500 slaves 2 at a time on rowboats, having to hoist them up to the deck with rope.
