Jet Set Radio on gba.
That one Resident evil for the Game Boy.What an abomination.
BG for PSX
RTS on consoles
>>336226671
Wasn't there also a BG2 version for PS2 that was basically a fast-paced action RPG?
X-COM for PS1. It was made back when multiplatform games were developed by different developers, and sometimes used different engines etc. thus meaning the games would be completely different depending which platform you play on. X-COM for PS1 was a perfect port though, and for that reason it's kinda awkward to play because you're playing a game that needs pinpoint accuracy on a console.
Nowadays most games are developed with consoles on their mind.
>>336226893
No, that's a Diablo clone with BG name.
Not story-related.
>>336224590
I actually played this port. It's not awful, but it is cut down.
>No health regions
>Worse graphics
>Tiny levels with huge load times
>Dualshock controls (although M+KB is supported)
Still, the opening theme was redone and pretty amazing.
>>336226903
I kind of miss those ports.
It was funny to see a game thats complete buggy trash on one system and then an entirely different genre and godlike on another.

Age of Empires 2 for the PS2
That was one weird as hell port. I haven't played it in a very long time, but I seem to remember some techs were just randomly cut. I don't think units could be upgraded to their final tier, ie, no Champions, Arbalests or Paladins etc.
>>336227613

>>336227817
Bioshock actually had 3 mobile ports (A top-down 2D/first-person 3D port for keypad phones and the ios port)
The single-player mode was a lot more fleshed out somewhat; over the course of it your character changed skins and got progressively better stats like health and armor soft/hard caps, as well as movement speed and attack strength. Those characters could be used in splitscreen and there was an actual final boss too.
It also had these unique tier advancement stages where you eliminate a bot or two's stock of lives in one arena, which then you go through a transition like the Vortex Portal ones that seamlessly sends you into another arena without a loading screen to do the same thing until you finish the event.
Strangely had some Team Arena content but no runes on the CTF ones. The MG also sounded a lot more stronger than it did on PC.

>>336229290
To be fair, the game's physics are incredibly slippery and awful.
>>336228982
>>336229080
You two should play Brotherhood if you haven't. Brotherhood is debatably even better than 2. Like an expansion pack of all the good of 2, basically. A lot of people's favorite AC game, if it's not already 2.

Not quite a port, but it is odd this made it on the DS.
Worked pretty darned well, you could use the d-pad for movement and the stylus for aiming.
It also introduced the helper drone if I remember correctly.

This must be nightmarish to beat. Everything looks insanely awkward.
Is Resident Evil Gaiden any good? That one at least looks interesting.
>>336230869
Why was the screen so narrow on the N-Gage if it was made for gaming? That thing was awkward as fuck.
>>336226873
>>336231189
Shame we'll never get classic Blizzard games on DS
There are a bunch of weird ports featured on PortsCenter
https://www.youtube.com/user/PortsCenterTV/videos
Just reminded me this exists:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LX7kdA2CcxE
Yep, the famous laser-disk game Dragon's Lair converted to the GAMEBOY COLOR!
Rhapsody was also ported to the DS.
My first exposure to Half-Life was the PS2 port which I bought for $5 from a garage sale.
It's actually pretty decently made and has much better graphics than the PC version. It also included the co-op campaign decay. To compensate for the lack of accuracy with the PS2's analogue sticks it did add an auto aim feature, but it was optional.
>>336227491
Remember when es4 was gonna be on psp?
>>336231189
I heard this game wasn't bad. If you had a psp, it was basically Diablo in your pocket.
>>336231761
You just reminded me, the Dreamcast was to get Half-Life and Blue Shift was suppose to be an exclusive episode.
Just weeks before the game would go gold Sega announced it wasn't supporting the Dreamcast anymore, so Sierra didn't even bother releasing it.
Also the Dreamcast was going to get a port of System Shock 2 as well.
>>336232220
>if
Did anyone /not/ have a PSP?
>>336228453
Half-Life 2 Xbox is fine. Half-Life Dreamcast is pretty playable besides crashing and shit because it's unfinished.
>>336232324
Half Life 2 Xbox has an unplayably low framerate. Dreamcast also has a poor framerate, and awful controls because of the single stick.
>>336226903
An in-mission save used all 15 blocks of the memory card. All of them, the entire thing, for a single save. So if you saved during a Brazilian night Terror Mission starring the Chryssalids, well, shit, good luck, save scumming that shit is going to corrupt the card.
The N64 port of Quake 2 was weird since they changed its colour palette from orange and brown to grey and blue
I really wished they had released Rogue Leaders for Wii. The port was finished and everything, they just couldn't get the rights issues sorted.
>>336232258
Oh yeah, the Dreamcast had a port of Quake 3, and you could even play against PC players...
Man, I still wonder how things would have been like if we got more ports like these and not stuff designed around the OG Xbox's limitations(i.e. Deus Ex: Invisible War and Thief: Deadly Shadows ).
>>336227613
>COD on wii
>gun actually points where you point and not just the center of the screen
>>336228367
I've played a spore game on the DS, I think it's called spore creations. It was extremely weird and didn't remember me much of the actual spore game.
>>336232614
I remember reading they sold surprisingly well too. Must have cost a ton for Activision to port them to weaker hardware.
>>336232584
Me too.
>>336232614
Wii controls get a lot of bad rep but they were god-tier for shooters.
You'd be forgiven from thinking Doom 64 was just another port, but it was actually an entirely new game developed by Midway. Its engine was a little more advanced than the original Doom's and it had a much darker atmosphere. The soundtrack in particular was incredibly dark and disturbing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=leUcIpcMZRs
>>336231761
PS2 port also had like Deathmatch arenas for 1v1 on a PS2. I remember me and my friend throwing down Snarks and running away from each other for shits and giggles.
Also this N64 version of Command and Conquer always seemed super odd to me. Just having the really basic, chunky 3D that the N64 supported being used to display a C&C game looks really awkward.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NFIuj1g1kk8
How about Arkanoid for the DS with a special spinner controller that uses the GBA port?
Also worked with Space Invaders Extreme 1 and 2.
>>336232940
They didn't release the spinner controller in Europe. Fucking shit sucks.
>>336232940
DS had a lot of weird and underused add-ons.
Like the rockband controller or the rumble pack. I wish the rumble pack was used in more games.
>>336233106
Holy shit, I've never seen Rock Band DS before. WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK?
>>336233216
Oh, wait, it's fake. Phew.
>>336233216
>Those tiny finger drums

>>336233216
I knew about the black thing attached to the system but goddamn
>>336233216
>those drums
>>336227613
I completed all of them on emulator and even played multiplayer on hacked DS. It was surprisingly great.
>>336228324

>>336227558
>>336228650

But it had Internet! Oh wait you need to use a dial up connection, never mind.

>>336228981
i honestly think the PC version was the port
>Doom
>Doom 2
And there was a Duke FUCKING Nukem game on the GBA as well.
Crazy some company would bother with FPSes on a handheld really not designed for them.
>>336233216
>>336233327
I always wanted to get this. Does anyone know if it was any good?
>>336232258
Most of the improvements eventually made their way to the PS2 port which was actually pretty decent. It even came with the 3rd expansion to half-life, Decay. There was also a level where you could play as a vortigaunt if you got a high rank on every decay level
>>336233854
Doom was on the SNES too.
I'm fairly certain there isn't a system Doom hasn't been ported to.
>>336231225
>Why was the screen so narrow on the N-Gage if it was made for gaming?
They didnt bother making a new screen, they used the screens from other mid-range Nokia smartphones like the 3650.
>>336233921
Gamecube? Maybe Wii homebrew has a source port or two but still
>>336233854
Doom was ported to fucking everything, man. Honestly, the GBA is a pretty good fit for it - it doesn't have a ton of controls and Doom was designed for underpowered hardware.
>>336233513
John Romero's bitch detected
>>336228431
Because it is a remake ???
>>336234114
On second thoughts, I should have said it was designed for hardware without floating point shit or 3D acceleration.
Ecks vs Sever was a lot more impressive. A ton of tricks were used to give it a 3D effect on hardware with no 3D processing at all.
>>336227969
The Duke Nukem on GBA is surprisingly playable. Not good but it functions well enough.
The Serious Sam on GBA is a fucking nightmare.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6gr4ipDtQrM
>>336228059
That actually sounds awesome.
>>336224590
Shut the fuck up, every fucking one. You don't know the true pain and horrible suffers of little kid, who spend almost 7$ (in roubles) to buy picrelated.
MoH series always was my most favorite on PSX, so how could I stand against such a perfect thing as MoH:U on GBA?
Creators of this piece of satanic curse are completely sick.
Other FPS on GBA was actually nice and fun, like DOOM, or 007. But this game is especially horrible from any fucking side.
MoH:Infiltraitor 10/10 anyway.
Duke Nukem Mobile
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GzltPNmHtaI
Ok, not quite a port, but also look at the device it was running on, the Tapwave Zodiac running Palm OS.
>>336227946
I remember paladins, arbalests and champions in that versionI played it for years before I finally had a pc to myself
Also on PC
>>336227946
you might just be remembering the campaign limiting your unit choices
>>336234230
>That actually sounds awesome.
Though it's not the best (considering it's mainly still just bot matches), it's certainly better than what the PC got and the overall presentation and menu design was better. The load times were shit, though.
Interestingly, Bullfrog worked on the port.
>Doomguy the slowest
I'll never get this. The video doesn't showcase the tier promotions, which for some characters they more cybernetics replacing his limbs and animated goggles/visors. Klesk just changes color for the most part.
Wonder why nobody tried to port any of this over onto PC.
>>336232276
People with taste.
>>336230015
The game was rushed to hell and the engine had to be built from scratch for this game.

>>336232614
That's most shooters on Wii. Prime 3 controls like a dream.
>>336228325
They scrapped the idea because they wanted to constantly update the PC version and said that console version wouldn't be able to keep up with the frequency of updates.
>>336232614

PC is the Xbox version. I remember my cousin having the big box copy and reading the booklet and it had Xbox controls.
>>336224938
I couldn't believe this had the cutscenes and full voice acting
It was an amazing port
>>336232220
Played it with my buddy when we were growing up
it's pretty awesome, actually, it has some quirks like most unique items only drop during single player campaigns and the coop campaign had limited variation in the quests you were offered, but it definitely played like Diablo.
Coop also required two memory cards because they could only fit a game and one character on one card, the second player would need to save on another card, there are a few PS1 games like that
>>336234635
MG was on the MSX and NES
MGS1 was on the PC
MGS2 was on the PC and Xbox
It's kind of funny how MGS was always considered a Sony franchise. Even more funny that the Xbox and PC versions of the games were the best versions too.
>>336227720
>>336228324

>>336236173
You know what they say about people with huge hands, don't you Anon? They find the original Xbox controller super comfy
>>336235109
I took a long time to accept it but found playing with splatoon the Motion control actually offers a lot more responsive find and fine control compared to releying solely on the thumb stick.
It's a shame most games aren't willing to implement it.

I've always thought that you could kind of see what Nokia was getting at with the N-Gage but they just couldn't quite put the whole package together.

>>336231225

IT'S REALLY SHIT
>>336237607

Which actually was good when I only had a Wii U after my computer broke and. But Still.

>>336234652
Maybe I'm misremembering. I haven't played it in a very very long time.

>>336238004
That too. At least N-gage had buttons. Though that's not a statement defending it. It was a travesty.
>>336237913
The PS4/Xbones came with a ton of the DLC built-in. But I bet what they're really doing is microtransactioning it up the ass because that's how modern gaming works.
>>336238083
Literally all the N-Gage needed was a 4:3 screen and no physical buttons for the numbers (put them on the screen and make you use the the d-pad to enter shit instead).
And no side-talking. And an easy way to add/remove cartridges.

the only "issue" was that it had several less enemies on-screen at the same time than the other versions.
The Wii version was great as well, probably the best incarnation of the franchise
Every so often I discover that some console title got an obscure PC port as well and I didn't realise it at the time
>>336237346
at the time i thought that n gage was pure magic
Then I played it recently, and the framerate of every game is atrocious.
Also that fucking screen ratio
Loved it nonetheless, not that I had to talk at the phone with anyone, anyway
There was a version of Pang for the DS

>>336226873
anybody remember the commercial for it?
>>336226873
I actually played it on an emulator with a controller
I thought it was fun
>>336226873
This port was actually pretty damn impressive. Included brood war too if you had the expansion pack. And 2 player split screen. interesting stuff.
>>336239162
there also was an ugly sequel of dig dug
it contained the shocking revelation that the Dig Dug guy is the father of Mr Driller
>>336227491
I had that game
I actually had quite a lot of weird early mobile games
My mother got 3 of them for free every month but she never use it for herself
>>336237823
is it.. is it canon?
>>336239162
This isn't a port though, it was made exclusively for DS in mind. It's also really fucking good.

>>336239048
>not that I had to talk at the phone with anyone, anyway
Well that took a depressing twist
It's insane how many ports of Rayman 2 there are.
>>336224590
TF2 compared to modern TF2 is spooky. 8v8, one voice command and totally vanilla. In particular the only meaningful update it got was fixing the medic syringe exploit and class limits I think, it doesn't even have badlands or gold rush.
>>336239384
Both DS games and the PSP games are as they fill in blanks and do not overwrite anything.
>>336239483
I love it. No hats, no bloat, no bullshit.

>>336239481
Good game though

>>336239483
I played TF2 on the Xbox for ages when I didn't have a PC capable of running the game a bunch of years ago, shit was fucking great.
No hats or bloated nonsense, it was fantastic.
Never played this myself, but I've heard it's actually a pretty good port of Resident Evil 1.
>>336235876
The PC version of MGS2 was absolutely godawful. One of the worst PC ports I've ever tried.
>>336235782
The PC version of diablo also had a limited quest palette. Like you always got butcher and king leoric.
>>336233854
Before the PSP, the GameBoy was the only handheld on the market, of course companies wanted a slice of those delicious handheld profits.
Now those same companies prefer to create dumbed down shit for mobile phones.

>tfw no comfy, Animal Crossing-like game on PSP or mobile

I had the DS Lite browser.
>trying to browse the internet with no flash and only 10MB of RAM
Truly, it was dark times. But it was still great.

It was weird that they only ported this game and not the first or third ones
>>336241798
I have about a hundred of these, still see them dirt cheap time to time.

How does she react?

I think this has been ported to most everything ever.
The GBA Island for Animal Crossing got ported to mobile phones, only in Japan.
I remember playing it, strange how I found next to no info about it though.
Oblivion for mobile phones.
>>336257172
yeah I think so. I have this one but I'm not nearly European enough to like it.
>>336250025
I remember going to my local library to use their wi fi to download porn on my PSP.
>>336229220
It's not as if the original was a masterpiece either, anon.
Yeah Doom RPG is fun. Wolfenstein RPG is better though.

That's a good thing, actually.
>>336257814
They should have got sued for this shit
>>336240660
Stunned. Can't imagine watching this on a GBC
>>336232258
There is a leaked copy online. It plays fine but the memory card shit wasn't optimized to the point that it takes more space to svae than there is on a standard vmu
I remember back when phone contracts gave you a certain amount of money instead of X minutes and X texts, so when I got to the end of my month I'd allways spend it on java games andhabbo coins.
>>336228324
It's kind of a catastrophe, but you can see the ambition. I'd take it over the blandly bad garbage we have today.
>>336259807
I remember reading a thing about the development of this port and how they had to change a lot of strange minor things that Nintendo didn't like
interesting stuff
>>336242275
>oh man the 00's was a weird time for tech
Every time was a weird time for tech. VCDs, CEDs, LaserDisc, Betamax; the CDi, the 3DO; hell, we're probably going to look back at the smaller Netflix competitors like youtube premium in the same way.
>>336245203
Physics engine, not animations. It's been fixed, too.
>>336261217
I didn't even know that this port exists until around 2009.
I always played theAmigaversion when I was younger.
>>336261217
Well yeah, you can kill a hamster by putting it into a microwave. They had to cut that out for instance.
>>336261864
when I was younger I played theversion you can find in Day of the Tentacle
>>336261954
here I found the thing
http://www.crockford.com/wrrrld/maniac.html
>>336261954
No, that's still in the NES version somehow.
>>336232258
That kind of shit happened constantly during that gen.
Along with Rainbow Six getting a Dreamcast port.
>>336233882
no shit?
like pov?
>>336225473
Dude I have it, it's pretty good
>>336244292
>>336255787
thats not the only thing
its suspected that its not even a port, but instead is basically a remake of DR on a heavily modified RE4 Wii edition. The controls, some textures, and I think models are all the same. Honestly really bonkers if its true.
