Well I have fun with it like I used to have fun with TF2 so I'll be playing the shit out of it. I can see it getting boring before long though if they don't come out with new content regularly. They can't really just do their typical one or two big content patches a year with a game like this, at least not until it gets a decent amount of maps.

Not sure what they've added since.) I played it for thousands and thousands of hours, and I even did the competitive scene as the team's demoman.
And I am saying, it's now shit.

It is -NOT- the TF2 it was meant to be, and hasn't gotten better, either.
If they removed every hat and cosmetic item, closed the market, banned trade servers, removed weapon skins and kept the base weapons, and took out cross-team taunting, then maybe they'd get back on track.

and how many hours have you put in? The averages change person to person but it still takes ages to truly master any of the classes (other than heavy really). mechanically many of the classes appear simple but the true mastery is knowing how to read the battlefield and make big plays based on the massive amount of class based knowledge you have not only for your own class but of others. I know as demoman I can accurately predict the movement speeds and even jumping patterns of most players and toss pipes from out of sight that will hit a high percentage of the time just knowing how people play their classes.

I believe the story is that there was a big war between mechs, and humans.
Zaraya is one of the women who fought, in russia.
The overwatch program was something that aided in saving lives, general heroism.
It disbanded, and the war hit the fan and there were tensions between sentient robots and humans.
Some people like pharah, are connected to old overwatch because of her sister, and tracer/winston are old friends in the original overwatch program.
Reaper was on the overwatch program, but after the disbanding and the war, it's suspected he is against the robots.
Someone like widowmaker is hired by reaper, yes REAPER IS THE MAIN BADDIE. and the fight at the museum (in the trailer) is one of the reasons for the reforming of overwatch, same as the winston trailer, and also the same as the tracer/widowmaker trailer.
It goes deep enough that pharah, as a young girl, had posters of reinhardt back when he was younger, and torbjorn is also reinhardt's best friend. (Also enough that when torbjorn dies on the battlefield, reinhardt yells out that he'll avenge him.)
So in a nutshell, it's pro-sentient robots vs anti-sentient robots.

It's a game designed around team play rather than single player skill, which is still a thing in the game.
Don't let others fool you though. Besides the heroes meant to be fast, such as tracer with her teleport
and Genji, the game isn't that fast paced. You still get rewarded for having good aim/being smart, and
the game is definitely fun to play for few hours.
Gameplay is basic, movement options depend on your hero; don't expect everyone having a tool for
moving around the map, but rather a movement tool for a specific situation. Example is McCree
having a short roll that doesn't do much in movement but reloads his gun faster than normal.
Ultimates are situational. All of them have counters but also moments where they'll excel. Some can be
avoided and other neutralized.
And yes, the game has interesting designs, both male/female. There's also a gorilla whose ultimate is
literally going apeshit, and a Mexican who became an edgelord after an incident, you decide what sticks.
