My theory on why Yhorm linked the flame. Some description (I think his soul) mentioned that people in the town weren't exactly that huge fans of him. Makes sense he linked the fire to regain trust in giants in the minds of humans. Only that it unfortunately killed them all which made him sad and depressed.
Actually I have a small thought now. Assuming there's huge time gap between DS1, 2, 3. Giants in DS1 are workface, like animals that is clearly not as intelligent as humans (Gough clearly isn't the brightest mind around).
Huge amount of time passes and evolution makes them evolve into giants from DS2, which managed to make their own kingdom, had some kind of society, could build boats and had king (so they reached what humans already reached in DS1).
In DS3 huge amount of time passes again and giants are dead from war. Last giant indicated it, king Lothric probably went full Hitler-mode to erase their race (probably not many giants were left and they are hiding from humans). Yhorm is a bastard of giant and human, that's why he has features from both. And due to people hearing stories about giants going rambo from long time ago they didn't trust him much (that's why he needed to give sword in the first place, dude was segragated). Slave giants are due to time collapsing in the universe. They are clearly from Anor Londo slavery.

Kaathe wanted a World Without Fire, NOT the Abyss. Oolacile and New Londo failed him by creating it, and reveling in it.
DaS3 draws a VERY clear distinction between the two concepts, when the Age of Dark is referred to simply as "a world without fire," while the Abyss is treated as it's own distinct entity.

Rosaria and the Dancer of Boreal Valley might be her children. You get the Sunlight Princess miracles from their souls. Some descriptions of the Dancer reveal she was part of "royalty", which can refer to Gwyn and his descendants.

I don't remember this happening. However, Ludleth apparently knew the Firekeeper there because if you show him the eyes before giving them to your own Firekeeper, he says something along the lines of "Found her, did we?"

Not that anon, but what do you think the point of the game is? If the Lords of Cinder had already linked the flame, they would not be running about, they'd be busy getting consumed by the flame. They were made lords because they were the most powerful guys around; powerful meaning big souls which means the fire will burn for even longer. It was a preemtive move to build them their thrones; thrones they were supposed to sit on when it was time.
When the time finally came, none of them answered the call. Aldrich wanted an age of the deep sea, Prince Lothric wanted to be left alone to play vidya with his cerebral palsy brother, Yhorm had dropped the ball completely and went nuts, the Abyss Watchers became corrupted by the abyss which forced them into an unending civil war.
TLDR; You're a Lord of Cinder because you're supposed to link the flame when the bell tolls, not because you already did it. If that was the case, we wouldn't have had to go fetch them.

I was so dissapointed with the map this time. It had none of the looping the first had whilst getting rid of the random insanity of the level design of 2.
One thing I loved about 2 was the fact I knew the majority of the time Id go around a corner and not have a clue what area would be next. The Earthern Peak to Iron Keep was ridiculous but it was at least interesting.
The only time I got the same feeling in 3 was the Archdragon Peak and even then it was just for the shock of the blue sky which they swiftly got rid of.

I liked this more than what they did in DaS1, the game scales with you and gives you at least some kind of direction. It has Bloodbornes approach on Design where every area is a bubble which loops in itself and sometimes into other areas.

Aldrich linked the Fire at some point, either he did he willingly, or was forced / cheated into doing it. All the Lords of Cinder did, with the possible exception of Lothric and Lorian since they aren't mentioned reviving like the rest and their main thing was refusing to become a proper Lord. The thing with Yhorm, Aldrich and Abyss Watchers is that they went moping around doing their own things AFTER reviving. They all literally rose from their graves according to the opening video.

I think that at a certain point winged beings started appearing, these beings were responsible for the religion that permeates in both lothric and irathyll. These beings quickly rise to power, and become a major threat to the already existing power structure.
Dark Souls 2 was likely an age of deep seas, the chosen undead likely went on to drain the ocean or at least start the process. after the ocean was thoroughly drained, any and all gods that were still living fucked off to their original homes.
Gywndolin was likely maintaining Anor Londo in a bubble of air under the ocean or something. magic, bitch.
when the gods returned from their vacation, they found these winged beings and the society they'd set up, Gwynevere shacks up with Ocerios because she's still trying to maintain what little power she has, they have a bunch of winged babies.
The serpents realize these winged beings may cause their influence to fade, so using either illusory magic or just straight up fake wings they disguise themselves as angels and try getting people to play the "don't link the fire" game again.
At first, they aren't very successful, and people keep on linking the fire. but after the lothric line advances far enough, they begin having fucked up kids. probably because Gwynevere's power is fading or some shit. Gurtrude is born blind and mute, she is visited by a primordeal serpent pretending to be an angel, and learns tales that eventually become the foundation for the angelic faith.

Lothric's faith is divided into two sects, each deemed heretical by the opposing sect. One worships the Anor Londo demons, "messengers" who exist to send undead/unkindled out on pilgrimages, never to return. It was likely once a holy pilgrimage to link the flame, and now viewed as pure heresy.
The other worships the angels(serpents), they seem intent on keeping people inside the high wall, and are likely associated with Irathyll in some way. Vordt, the dancer, and by proxy the Pontiff himself are all on their side. Wherever winged knights linger, the corpses of lothric knights are never far behind, suggesting even one winged knight could do away with an entire platoon of lothric knights with ease.
Gurtrude is likely the origin of all this, and as a result it was likely the will of the serpents is misunderstood to some degree. the miracles she transcribed were a mad scrawl, but none the less "became the foundation of the Angelic faith of Lothric".
Gwynevere goes on to have two more children, Lorian and Lothric. Lorian is raised a knight and kills the demon prince(who I believe to be the old demon king in his prime, I think Lorian fucked his shit up so bad he caused Izalith to collapse into ash lake poisoning the very land) and Lothric is born a sick and frail child. Interesting note: the clothes he is "born in" fit a grown man, could his "birth" be entering undeath?
I believe both of these children were born with wings, and not wanting to become heretical figures of worship cut their wings off. Even after cutting everyone's wings off, and locking Gurtrude up in a tower, Lothric still encounters a "scholar," the "first scholar" and falls for the "don't link the fire" meme.

In an attempt to correct this, and help Lothric's frail state, Lorian and Lothric's souls become irreversibly intertwined. This only cripples Lorian and cements the notion in Lothric that he won't link the fire. Instead they hole up in their room and decide they're going to fucking squash any idiot trying to link the flame like an ant. fucking edgelords.
Gwynevere and Ocerios have one last child. Ocelotte. What happens with him is also unclear but I like to think we kill him when fighting Ocerios. Ocelotte is a child of dragons, and is invisible. I think he's a failed fluffytail. By the time Ocerios and Gwynevere have him I believe Ocerios had already begun or completed his dragon transformation. This child had some of the qualities of a fluffytail, but for the most part was an abomination. He only revealed himself to Ocerios and Gwynevere, and it essentially mindfucked them. Ocerios locks himself(and firelink shrine) away, Gwynevere fucks off and is eventually reborn as Rosaria.
During all this time, pontiff Sylyvahn has had a lot of time to get good at magic and discover the profaned capital. He does this, then begins quickly climbing the ranks of the relisious sect permeating in Irathyll, which I believe is based around the worship of Anor Londo's divine messengers. He quickly conquers what was left of Anor Londo, imprisons Gwyndolin in the old cathedral, kills the giant blacksmith, rounds the rest of the giants up in the courtyard with some drang faggots, and generally conquers anor londo with ease.

After this conquest, he basically declares himself the pope of Anor Londo and starts spreading his religion through the land. One of his clerics becomes a maneater and has prophetic dreams of a coming age of deep sea that frighten him beyond belief. Giving into carnal instncts he eats men, and wishes for others to share in this pleasure. All the while he spreads word about the coming age of Deep, and takes a good chunk of the pontiffs religion down a very strange path. He becomes a lord of cinder for his sickening strength alone, and is fed Gwyndolin as a reward. This someow gives him the title of saint, and he links the fire. Aldric's cycle leads into what would be Prince Lothric's cycle.
Prince Lothric's bullshit causes the link of the fire to be threatened, and the bell WOULD HAVE tolled if it was not for Ocerios. Ocerios has locked himself and firelink away at this point, Lothric refuses to link the fire and the replacement champion was too late to the party. The age of dark has begun, and shit is getting fucked fast. This, is where I believe Ludleth comes into play.

He was a very strong guy, or maybe just a guy with a strong enough fear of the dark to will himself into linking the flames. In all honesty, he was probably just a waifufag who didn't want to see Irina keep getting destroyed by the little things that nibble in the dark. Seeing his waifu get casca'd over and over again likely did somehting to the guy. He likely encountered a beast called the soulfeeder(maybe it was the one killing firekeeper over and over) his ring states "The Soulfeeder was a beast that insatiably absorbed souls to feed its own power. Even after its accursed corpse was burned, it is said that the pungent stench of souls left the air permanently stained" I think he burned this beast along with himself as kindling for the fire, likely scrawling his name on the back of Gundyr's throne to make it seem official. Ludleth links the fire, but he doesn't fix anything, the bell still hasn't tolled in Lothric, Ocerios is still a crazy dragon fucker, Lothric still won't link the flame. His linking was almost for naught, becuase it just buys them enough time to get the bell rung. This wakes up the old lords(all of whom run away for various reasons), and the unkindled lordseekers. the cycle is back for now, Emma hides the black sun with some kind of illusion, the unkindled seek the lords.
