There's nothing wrong with using stronger pokemon, if that was the case you wouldn't bother leveling them up to begin with. VGC 2014 was also the most restrictive, and IIRC didn't allow transferred from gen 5 pokemons.

I wish instead of ruining evolutive lines by giving ugly evolved designs and the franchise itself by making stupid pokémon, Nintendo created some algorithm to perfectly balance every fully evolved pokémon, at most giving PRE-evolutions.
It'd possible, wouldn't it? You just have to calculate stats, attacks and possible strategies out of all moves, which would take some time but would eventually be possible. Sure Pokémon would still be a luck game, but it would be interesting to have all pókemon as competitive.
