Yeah they seem to rely on the enemies and estus a lot more than in the past. Like that guy said though anything is fair game. I don't use estus unless I see them doing it and when I'm in coop I always let the host try to 1 on 1. If I can I'll block the door leading out so the invaders can't run away. Haven't had any issues so far, they always see me blocking the door they came in and don't try anything.

I don't see how invading is in any way bad, at least not when it comes to Anor Londo. The area apart from the two rat faced monstrocities in the water reservoire is fairly easy, and there's a ton of PvP anyway due to the Aldrich Boys.
I simply invade through my red orb because it's the easiest way, and I don't see why two players can't have a fair match with an invade...

Everything after Pontiff is pretty good for invading. There aren't as many gank squads for some reason, invader traffic is high, and there's a special covenant for the area to help ensure 1v3 doesn't happen.
Now if only we could get rid of the fight clubs there, everything would be perfect.

Obscuring ring is actually bad for doing the "Hiding in plain sight" gimmick because the pop-in can give you away.
The real problem is when people use the obscuring ring in places like the Aldrich invasion area where they can see large parts of the level and ensure they are always far away from you. It's literally impossible to track somebody down like that.

This is make sure you can be invaded regularly or even summoned at different covenants most of the time.
If you just want to invade though, you can push until SL70 but that's pushing it a little bit already. Weapons can go to +7 or +8, but no more than that if you still want to be invaded by that SL.
The way the game records the highest weapon upgraded you did and that's what matches you to other people.

Tree spear and EE ring both heal you on enemy death. Normally useless in invasions because healing after killing the host is pointless. However, seed activating makes all mobs turn into enemies for you, so free heals from both spear and ring. Alluring skulls are just the same since they don't work pre seed. You can use them to drag mobs around and train hosts. The spear l2 is a long range poke that can hit multiple targets, plus ignores shields. You want weaker mobs for pulls because easier killed mobs means more healing. Also groups are typically less lilely to charge three fire witches than 6 crappy ghost sword users.
Why any of this seemed fantastic or impossible to the other poster, I can't tell you. He may as well deny that straight swords can be equipped or that armor increases weight.

Red Invaders have 25% less health, have half the sippies, are prioritized to be put in matches with friendly phantoms, and most of the time are spawned farther away from the boss fog gate and are deported from the world when the host enters, and the host is invulnerable while entering the fog gate and it cannot be interrupted, not to mention just as your OP mentions, most people have Seed of The Tree giant and take away one of the only advantages Invaders have. Being a red guy is a rough life. Most people probably just want to get their Pale Tongues and get out by the time they've experienced enough team battle ganking. It doesn't help that most of the time invaders are sucked into some dried finger match with 3 white phantoms.
