When playing Totori I like to pretend I'm actually Guid. It works because throughout most of the story Guid keeps appearing out of nowhere saying he was there all alone and nobody noticed. Of course since I'm Guid this means Totori and Cecilia are my daughters. Cecilia is pretty responsible, so she can usually take care of herself; however, I make sure to catch enough fishes to she has enough to eat for all the time me and Totori are gone. You see, when Totori leaves on adventures, I actually follow her around (What can I say, I'm a bit overprotective over my children). When the party loses, they "mysteriously" reappear in town after a few days... of course, what happened is that I brought them back in secret. At some point, Totori builds a flying carpet, which saves her time after losing to enemies, because she thinks it makes her fly away while uncounscious... of course, a carpet can't fly. I just use it while Totori is unconscious to lure the enemies away, like a toreador. Aside from that, I also sometimes hide rare items among the bushes so she'll find them, or force the enemies ahead to eat important things so Totori will discover them after killing them. I also paid an ex-knight to help her in battle, to make sure he could protect directly; of course I told him to invent a story and not mention me. Since Totori wanted to see her old teacher back, I tracked down Rorona myself and had her come and help her student; of course, Totori would've been embarassed if she knew I did it for her, so me and Rorona pretended I had fished her out. Totori completely bought it... well, she's still pretty young, so of course she's still a bit naive. All this following is really tiring for me tough, but I could never stop assuring the safety of my daughter. Thank god at least one of my daughter is more of the stay-at-home type.

Arland and Mana Khemia keep a pretty consistent system, while Dusk and Iris try different things each game.
Grand Phantasm and Mana Khemia share very similar systems, but Grand Phantasm has a pretty interesting weapon/class system that changes characters drastically.
If you want to get /really/ into links between games, the mention of a certain goddess, and a particular 'photograph' link Salburg, Iris, Mana Khemia, and Arland together.
