Been playing this game for a while.
With some polishing this game can be a legit goat game. The ARPG mechanics paired with the gameplay are nice. Stats and armor actually do mean something unlike the Souls games. The difference of being unarmored and having some equip on is like night and day.
Big issues are the framerate. it's awful even with the action mode enabled.

I've noticed that you can put some yokai instantly into flashing stamina mode.
For the first boss if you land a strong attack in his face after the double swing.
For the second boss its easiest during the lighting from mouth move.
For the cyclops you can do a strong attack in his eye after the belly flop.
Once they're in flashing stamina you can stun lock them with regular attacks (or activate guardian), and their stamina doesn't recharge until they've done a special recharge move, so if you're good at Ki pulsing you can do huge damage.

my biggest issue is the item management.
you pick up a ton of crap constantly, you can only have 200 items and you have no way to efficiently bulk donate them to the shrine. (I know you can triangle select them but you're still selecting one item at the time)

Okay just played about an hour and I gotta say I am very impressed.
I thought it would be a competent souls clone, but it actually manages to feel like its own thing. The combat feels more like Ninja gaiden than souls.
I died to a bunch of those enemy player phantoms on the very first beach and got super frustrated, but after getting used to it I started doing cool shit and beating them easily (are they NPC's or actual players? Some were good, some were shit and some even taunted)

You use it for quick stamina breaks on onis. The forward+x drains a huge amount of stamina off of every enemy so you can stunlock them with heavy for damage. Also unlike the other stances, you can get stamina back by dodging when your bar is filling up so you can continue your combo.

Im not sure but I used it for fighting groups because its faster and has sweep attacks, instead of using moves that leave you exposed it allows you to hit and move before another enemy comes in to hit you.

yea sticking to one stance is an awful idea
spear's low stance heavy attacks are great for dealing with mobs of enemies at a time (and since you'll be spamming dodge a lot to not die you'll get all your stamina back from Ki bursts).
mid stance's parry and thrusting attacks make it great for 1v1 honarabu dueling
high stance spear is great for demons and killing an enemy off quickly and if they survive the 2 hit light attack you can stance switch (which does a twirl attack with high stance spear and regens stamina with Ki burst) into low stance spear to quickly jab them to finish off and then Ki Burst again as you dodge away if necessary.

That said, I watched some nip play the game ages ago and when they stopped attacking or anything they didnt start running backwards, they just walked, as in, didnt push the analog the whole way and just made the character do a walk animation, this kept you facing the enemy at all times and it works in the game, I honestly dont have the patience for doing that but it work, and when you get hit you take less damage because youre not hit in the back. The player was complaining about the running thing too and it seems like they arent going to change it.

Then when he goes ballistic and i try go behind him he'll break my shield/stamina in one hit then KO me. The dodging is so shit because he still is capable of reaching me with a sweep.

He is much easier solo, I found out after not getting anymore cup drops.

dont try to go behind him
just dick around untill he either throws the ball and poke him
or untill he starts a combo and wait for it to end and that gives you an opening to poke him
