After a long time, i finished almost everything Warcraft related and decided to start WoW, which is supposed to have a shitload of content and take a long time to complete. Of course, if im playing in the right order, im starting from vanilla, then TBC, and so on, and Nost seemed the best.
So 3 weeks ago i started Nost, and i had a lot of fun with my warrior, lvl 22 now, arround 60 hours in that character. Questing everything i see, including quests from other starting areas that give me no exp what so ever, and exploring all i see.

And then the current realms of Legion (assuming this is the latest one). That way, they get to keep subscribers, get 'good will' to the majority of people who don't screech like children (ie; /v/) and you guys can enjoy vanilla/tbc/wotlk/mop/cata/wod and actually have an official tier support.
Imagine it. You log into vanilla and they release the content they did over the same period of time they did before. People can twink with gear that used to be the level it was pre-tbc. People can do the raids up to Naxx. People can have uniqueness and be awesome again and feel like they mean something. Rather than private servers where you realise "none of this really matters and can go any min".
I would re-sub to WoW if they did that. They could even add post-vanilla (or whatever) gear in. Or use models and stuff post-vanilla to add more bosses or raids.
Think about it. Vanilla had everything. From hard raids to world bosses that took effort. It'd be awesome.
Or. How bout this. Imagine Vanilla WoW, but with all the factions + main cities from the expansions thrown in? Being able to get Judgement Armour for a Blood Elf Paladin and it being relevant and not a shitty transmog would be a wet dream for me.

Hidden systems and formulas in an extremely competitive environment, resulting in no useful public wikis - information was a treasure guilds kept secret. EVE-like skill progression leaving you free to fuck around, parkour up walls and grief players while you level up passively instead of repetitively clicking mobs to death.
It went to shit due to increased focus on the terrible PvE, rampant Viet boting and pay2win, but it was a very interesting experiment and a breath of fresh air in the genre.

Vanilla + TBC servers. But, linked. Let me explain.
Imagine playing Vanilla. But other has said, with the other classes + races. That's pretty cool, right? Well, imagine if you could then import that character, or "copy and paste" into a server which has TBC on. That way, you can do the TBC content and also do vanilla stuff, with Naxx being the 'end game' forever. With TBC being Black Temple.
The only problem I see with this, is, for example, you farm to get max rep with ZG (lets say you're a completion freak, thou the necklace isn't bad iirc) and you do it after you've copy and pasted your character onto the TBC server. You wouldn't have that rep. While you could go "it doesn't matter", it could matter if you want it done in a reasonable time. Apart from Druids and Paladins, I doubt you could solo ZG to farm the reps and coins you need.
If they could somehow keep the rep gain mimicking on the TBC, it'd be perfect.
If not, I guess you just keep farming on vanilla until you max out what you want and go to TBC.
Blood Elves are faggotry, but I do love them. I also love the armour designs of the females, despite not liking playing as a girl. Besides, gender swap items exist, so it's possible I can swap if I feel icky.

I would agree. But if I had to choose between Vanilla Legacy Server or Current Server. I'd do the former.
Before TBC came out, they did a patch which gave everybody the TBC talent trees. That alone would make Vanilla so much more fun. I'd be able to have so much fun doing funky builds. Being able to make a Blood Elf Paladin/Draeni Shaman would also be cool. Even better if they added Worgen and Goblins in. Just to make shit different. Death Knights being added wouldn't be beyond reason in terms of 'lore'. Nor will anybody care.
But if that was a no-no, then I'd be happy just able to roll a Warrior with TBC talents. Dual Wielding 2H is a fetish. I'd also like to raid as a Fury Warrior.

According to him, Blizzard didn't give a shit about gold sellers. To them, if people remained subscribed to the game longer because they could buy gold, then it was better. The idea was, if it would take 20 days, or whatever, to farm 5000g, the player wouldn't want to pay the $15 a month or whatever it was to do so. Yet if they could drop $30 or whatever on 5000g, they would stick around playing, simply because they didn't go "Fuck this, I'm not farming for 20 days to get X".
tl;dr Blizzard, at least during TBC, didn't give a shit about Gold Sellers. The only way they did was if somebody managed to screenshot you admitting buying gold and who you bought it from and the other person admitted to selling it to you.

A traditional addon is adding content to the original game, WoW replaces the old with the new and starts a new episode, there is a reset. I don't know how else it would be supposed to work. They could have stayed at 60 and just add more and more raids past naxx, but in there almost no players even made it, you can't add more raids inbetween or something past naxx nobody will ever reach because it's too hard

A clear interest does not mean a reliable or justified one.
Do you really think that Blizzard, cheap as they can be, wouldn't jump on a vanilla server if they knew people would buy a sub for it? The only thing they'd have to do is hire a small team to manage it and that's it. It's easy.
Blizzard manages their games, and know what is best for it despite the memes to the contrary, and they do so with the express intent of keeping profits. The only reason they haven't put out a vanilla server yet is because the profits they'd gain from managing and keeping up a server like that is not worth it. They'd be better off somehow implementing it into the main servers instead, and even that wouldn't justify the costs.

In my day it was a small patch of land with a graveyard and a spirit healer in the middle of nowhere.
We had one button that was standard for every GM which when you pressed it input the whole "Hi this is GM Anonymous I understand you're having issues with another player. Do you have time to talk about these issues?" in the chatbox.
It was actually against the rules to reveal yourself to players unless it was absolutely necessary (i.e. fix a glitched raid or dungeon). For the most part you spawn in on GM Island and everything is done through whispers.
If you do show up to a player we had the command /tele Elwynn Forest which took you immediately to the middle of Elwynn Forest or you could put /tele [Player Name] and teleport to the player.
But yeah we could move around and stuff on the island. If you try and leave on foot though you get fatigue and die since there's nothing in sight.

I don't know either, but considering how popular vanilla servers are, and real people I've talked to; they would jump right back into the game.
The huge subscriber surge and loss from WoD is a real testament to the appeal of a vanilla experience.
