That artstyle is the entire reason I stopped at X and never played anything beyond it in that timeline, even though I've enjoyed Classic and X for my entire life.
Only now am I just starting to kind of gain interest in trying the Zero series, because I just pretend that as time went on X and Zero needed new hardware because robotics had been advancing for hundreds of years since they had been built and their bodies just were not cutting it anymore.
It still looks like garbage though, and losing the ability to play as X is stupid.

I loved the style so much, I bought the art book. It's the only art book I've ever purchased, if you don't count little dinky ones in collector editions. I think the style is really sleek looking, and it's a great contrast to Xs 80/90s rock / sharp edges designs (which I also really like).
