You just gotta stick to it, stomach the losses and never stop being hungry for victory. Then there'll be small achievements, landing that one combo once, clutching out a match, doing a comeback you wouldn't have thought possible. But you'll keep on losing a lot more than you're comfortable with. You'll still have loss streaks. You'll still have moments where you feel like all your hours have been wasted, where you feel you're a lost cause.
But you've gotta believe me when I say, one day, it just clicks. For every fighting game I've played, and I have actually never played a fighting game that I would not keep on playing, eventually there's the point where you just feel like "holy shit, I actually know what I'm doing". Where "by default", you just no longer drop your combos, you just know what you want to be doing in mostly every situation, you know how to keep your cool no matter the pressure. Where you know what to do to open someone up, and how to adapt on the fly when something does not work out.
It's gonna take a lot time. And not just time, but mental fortitude. But the great thing is, the next fighting game you play, you reach that magic "I know what I'm doing" state twice as fast, and the next game after that ten times as fast, and by the time you've spent 500 hours in your third game, picking up the next game, all you need is a couple of hours in training mode, a couple of matches, and you feel at home in a heartbeat.
Keep at it mate. The slog is worth it, I promise. There's light at the end of the tunnel.

I've played fighting games on/off for years against the most aggressive person I know, and it took years before I got any better. Even then, I wasn't winning any matches, but I started to notice the patterns and was able to react to them.
Once I started up SFV, I changed my mindset to stop focusing on winning so much. I just accepted I was shit and started focusing on learning from every single match. I still suck something fierce, but I've made more improvement in the past day of adapting with that mindset than the past few years of angrily blitzing in and eating counters, Fafnirs, or command grabs.
Playing KI right now. I should play again just to try Alex though I suppose.

People throw around "3 frame links" a lot, but iirc there's a 3 frame buffer window in any moves' recovery in ADDITION to the normal link window you'd be given anyway. So in reality this game's links range somewhere between 4 minimum, 6ish most of the time, and up to, like, a thousand for some combos.
Honestly if you can't do combos in this game, you can't do them in any game. The generous link windows in addition to how short the average combos are in this game makes this one of the easiest out of them all execution wise. Dumbing stuff down any more would make htings ridiculous.

Cr.hp is generally used as a mid to far range early AA.
Basically you want to aim to hit the second hit because it gives you a larger launch, it's gotta be hit really early.
