Reductions in roster, and it's much slower imo, I play both semi often and acpr is just much more exciting, probably my main 2 grievances with xrd are danger time and the changes to the RC system, I don't like the idea of YRCs being a free pause button in neutral, and the slowdown makes mixups more obvious and less effective. Well it isn't really slower if you mean just normal movement and attack speed. That's actually still the same speed, but I do agree with you if you mean overall since all the other mechanics like the slowdown with RC's. Also agree with you about the YRC's which I would have been fine with if it didn't cause slowdown and Danger time. Also add Hellfire to that as well. At least it sounds like you play the games though. Most people who say Xrd is shit, but Accent Core Plus R is fantastic I usually can say they're full of shit. Learn to shimmy and learn to convert off of your longest range normal. Karin's walk speed is ridiculous so the shimmy is extremely powerful with her, pair that with being able to convert into huge damage from a shimmy and she's insanely strong. She also has great normals for footsies. Just learn where and when to press your various buttons.

That depends entirely on what character you're fighting against. Most characters have an invincible CA but if you pressure someone enough they might just panic and throw it out. Just be careful about baiting a grappler's CA as you'll have to make a read by backdashing and a normal can catch you doing that or neutral jumping which can be anti-aired.

You should use the d-pad. When I first tried fighting games years ago I tried the stick and couldn't do anything after hours of practice, so I gave up. I tried again last year with the d-pad and found myself doing things consistently much faster.
Try it out for a while and see if you start feeling comfortable with it enough to go online.

If you're unsure, you can always just do a v reversal and get out of the situation.
Otherwise, there isn't much you can do other than try to read their tendencies and jab, reversal, or jump if you see fit. Jumping back is a good way out of a lot of situations but make sure you don't corner yourself.
If it's on wakeup you can also do the new OS and get out of everything short of a command grab.
If it's in the corner all you can do is r-reversal or guess though. But that's because you let yourself get cornered.

I keep falling for getting grabbed in failed jump in situations.
For ages I wondered why grabs were beating my jabs (even if I do have a 4f jab, that's still 1f) then realized he must be starting them before I hit the ground.
Are there any other options other than throw tech? It's a failed jump so I've already hit a button before I hit the ground (usually reset on air to air but they land first or got hit with an awkward aa like Birdie's jumping headbutt thing)

Fighting people who know how to play the game is really fun. Fighting someone who has 1400 points and randoms you the fuck out when you have almost 4000 points isn't fun.
Yes, git gud, etc. You know in your heart of hearts the worst feeling is losing 90+ points to someone who didn't deserve them and then having to fight 2-3 matches of equal rank to get those points back.and then you fight someone who has 1500 points and the cycle starts over again
That being said, I really enjoy when I get paired with super mega ultra hyper deluxe golds as a silver. If I win, I get a fuck ton of points, if I lose I barely lose any points and walk away learning something.
The system is nice from the higher end, but it sucks until you get out of shitter hell.

You don't understand shit about rosters. For SF, 16 characters are good. For KOF, a 3v3 fighter, 50 characters are good. KOF's mechanics make the game less of a matchup heavy game than SF. Putting even 30 fighters at the start of SFV would suck ass. That's 29 matchups you have to learn.
Then you have to take into account balance. The more fighters there are the harder it is to balance. Thankfully SFV has gotten that right.

Not all at the same time. A smaller roster evolves the meta of a matchup much faster than a 30 man roster because you spend more time fighting against a single character and the other characters get more top players finding out stuff about the character.
I think a 15-20 man roster is great to start, but eventually getting bigger to keep things fresh is great too.
And that's without taking balance into account. Like does it matter if there are 30-40 fighters if half the cast is ass? What's the point?
