Pokken is a great game. Just managed to get my hands on a game pad; excited to try it out.

I can't dash jump over it because it seems to expand the instant it gets close, I can't block it because it deals decent chip damage, and I can't counter-dodge through it because, even on the off chance that I can pull it off successfully, it will usually just land me in fire spin. What the hell is this character?

This shit right here is my only problem with Pokken. I can push a button at any point in other fighting games and get an attack in the same second, but it takes half a fucking second for my input to register in Pokken. Throw really tight combo windows into the mix, and the game feels like a sluggish mashfest half the time.
Which is a shame, because the mechanics are all pretty solid. It's just the godforsaken input lag that holds the entire game back.

Once you get in on her she doesn't have a lot to get you off. She's very susceptible to anti-airs if she jumps, especially in Field mode. I like to use Pedal Dance but if you can dodge the attack, she's left helpless till she lands. If you have a character with any good forward highs or lows all you need to do is get in with one of them and get to it.

They're pretty fair, since they have really slow moves give up a lot when they attack. MewTwo gives up synergy while Shadow gives up health(while having the lowest HP in the game, mind you).

If you hit against grab then you will almost always beat it in my experience
But counters usually aren't a sure thing. You can hit too early or too late or the counter doesn't hit them before one of their regular attacks hits you

It is a little strange but the timing on when you can release it is easy enough. Even Weavile leaves a lot of chances to release it. Just hold it until some kind of pause, even just a fourth of a second one. I'm glad that the rock paper scissors isn't that set in stone. That's something DOA actually gets wrong in my book. There's no exceptions. Everything largely is just a flat game of RPS.
