Tekken is better than Mortal Kombat if we are considering their current iterations.
Mortal Kombat lost my respect when they started self-censoring and making every female a character a strong female protagonist who don't need no man, unless that man is also not a white man. Then the man is acceptable as a partner.
Tekken never sold out, they still are just as ridiculous as they used to be. Only difference is the graphics are getting better.
Tekken Tag Tournament 2 was leagues better than MKX, I still on occasion play TTT2 with friends. I stopped touching MKX after all the DLC characters were released and I realized we were never getting a human reptile skin.
