Xbone. Probably the best controller I've ever used honestly. Clicky Saturn bumpers, Nintendo D-Pad, good feeling sticks.

Sega Saturn gamepad. The only games you need a controller with thumbsticks for are twinstick shooters.
>>
>>319687091
Can you play fighting games on that?
>>
>>319687372
I don't like how unpronounced the bumpers are, which to me makes it feel real cheap.

I use the DS4 as its got Bluetooth support, great PC emulation (DS4Windows) and I've always like the Dual Shock.

Dualshock 4. No fucking contest here. The thing actually works better on pc than it does on the fucking ps4 itself with DS4Windows.

You can use the touchpad as a mouse, you can do whatever the fuck you want with the light, you can even set up macros with whatever key combination you want. You also can set DS4Windows to boot up minimized with windows so you can use your PC pretty much like a console, just hit that PS button and that's it, the thing is instantly paired and you're good to go.

The fact you have to buy a separate expensive giant turd of a dongle to use the bone's controller on microsoft's own OS is fucking laughable in comparison.

Dualshock 4 is the best controller ever made.
>>
>>319687494

Nope. You need dual sticks for most 3d games today. As they have a camera.
>>

>>319688238
Literally what fucking 3D PC game would you play with a controller?
Emulated games don't count because the best option for those is always the controller for the console they were on, or closest equivalent.

The Xbone elite is propbably the best controller ever made, except it's expensive and in short supply.

I wouldn't knock the 360 pad. I've used it before, but it's really fucking bulky, like it designed for Shaq or something. And it might just be me but I expected the left analog stick to be weird as hell, but I got used to it pretty well.

>>
>>319689436
It's trash. Like 6-8 hours at the very best. That is the only downside, forgot to point that out.

And yeah, you can turn it off, you can change the color to whatever you want, you can make it flash when your battery is at a certain threshold or to indicate input lag.

I have mine off but set up to flash at 10% battery.

I've only ever used a 360 controller. The stick placement hurts my hands after too much use and the triggers are uncomfortable as shit.

The 360 controller is of awful quality. The buttons are hard and loud, the sticks have no resistance and the bumpers are pure plastic shit. I legit think the Steam Controller is my favorite. Second best is Xbone

Can anyone use a ds4 wirelessly and not have it suck complete ass?

I have a ds4 and (of course) ds4windows. I've used two different Bluetooth dongles (same brand) and it doesn't fucking work beyond 7 feet away.

Even when sitting one foot away it cuts in and out. When I put my hand between the controller and the dongle, it disconnects.

I wish that I could say the 360 pad but the d-pad on that thing is just the most awful thing ever. Don't bother trying to play any 2D platformer that has a crouching action, you will just crawl walk on accident constantly.

For everything else though, the 360 pad is great.

Also, the Steam controller is actually starting to grow on me. Now that you can use it outside of Big Picture, I've tried using it for just random stuff like flash games and it does pretty well.

If nothing else, Valve has given us a pretty decent alternative for joy2key. I do hope that games start to integrate some of the macros that you can use with the controller.

Also, if you have played any game on the 3DS where you can go into first person and aim with the gyro, like with OoT3D, using the controller to aim is just like that. Being able to supplement the trackpad with gryo aiming is really nice.

I hope that Valve keeps developing the controller because it seems like it could really be a step forward. The peddle shifters and haptic feedback are cool too. I want to try it with a racing game.

The problem I have with the DS4 is the wireless. My PC has built-in bluetooth and I often times get lag and disconnects. I ended up getting an Xbox One controller and adapter just for my PC, because that way I don't have to bother with any syncronization crap every time I switch systems.

One thing I will say about the Xbox One controller vs. the PS4 controller is that it can get very expensive if you want something beyond just a wired USB game controller. I've dropped a fair chunk of change on mine already, even though I bought it on sale for $40 on Black Friday. If you want wireless, you need the adapter for $35, whereas the Dualshock 4 just uses a compatible bluetooth adapter that you might already have. Then comes the play & charge kit, which is another $25, so now that $45 investment is $100. Then if you get the chatpad (which is one of the best reasons to get an Xbox One controller), a right-angle 3.5mm adapter is going to be mandatory if you ever want to comfortably use your headphones / headset so that's another $8. And of course, if you decide to go full-idort and buy the Elite Edition (which I did not), that's another $100.

I think if you're going to be playing a lot on PC it's probably the best option, but in terms of value you should think carefully unless price is no object. There's a lot of hidden costs compared to some of the other options out there.
