r, Fast Racing NEO also supports online multiplayer, a first for the series. Online matches are seemingly lag free, a good sign for any online game, but especially those in which twitch reflexes are required. Nevertheless Shin'en has made some choices in the implementation of the online mode that left us a bit puzzled. Upon choosing to play online you'll be prompted to choose between a match amongst friends or one open to the general public. From there you'll select a vehicle and drop into the lobby area.
You'll be presented with three randomly selected tracks to choose from. Each of your opponents, up to seven of them, will receive a different set of tracks; after everyone has voted for a track one will be randomly selected, similar to how Mario Kart 8 operates. There's no option to select which league (speed class) you'll participate in, nor is there any indication made by the game to clue players in to what speeds to expect; the online races we took part in felt like Subsonic League races, the game's slowest. Winning races awards points to your profile, so it'll be interesting to see whether greater numbers online, with increasingly high rankings, will prompt faster speed classes in online races. As it stands the online system is extremely simple, apparently designed to ensure quick match-ups for potentially limited numbers of players; this is an eShop-only game, after all.

Considering F-Zero is limited to having references in other Nintendo games and that Wipeout is dead, I want to give this a try. The blue/orange polarity system seems kinda there, is there more to them than just running over matching pads? No passive effects like increased speed or resilience?
I must say that the developing company's previous line up of shovelware titles is pretty cringeworthy though. If this doesn't hold up for what it is then I have to wait for Formula Fusion to shape up as well as waiting for Slipstream GX's full release...if they deliver that is. The 2014 demo was surprisingly decent for something made in the free iteration of Unity.

just played the first cup on the lowest speed, guys
graphics, for a Wii U game, are good but the aliasing is real bad. Track design as people have said is not really challenging, it's mostly fairly straight and the tracks are wide, although there are stage hazards like ice on the ground and icicles on one of the maps that need to be boosted through or you slow down. Also, the boost switch mechanic is great and adds a layer onto the game so you gotta concentrate even on the lowest speed to make sure you're maintaining optimal speed by hitting the right colours, and staying on the boost strips the entire length to get the max boost. Even though I'm on the lowest speed as well, there are times when I've lined up perfectly for all the boost orbs and a boost strip and really felt like the track is flying past me as I go super speed
Only played 4 courses over like 10 minutes or whatever, but so far I'm enjoying it and looking forward to going up in speed

Played the first two cups at Subsonic Speed, won gold on both first try though I didn't always place first. One thing I've noticed is that the CPU isn't consistent in its placement, at least at this difficulty, so there aren't really CPU rivals that always come in the top placements and you don't need that many points to win.

The reviewers aren't kidding, the game is really unforgiving. I managed to get gold on the firsts try in the first two cups. I placed third on the third one. The fifth one required several tries before i placed in the top three. Difficulty comes from the fact that a single fuckup will ruin your current race and possibly the entire cup.

I've noticed it most on the mine track, you get respawned all the way at the start of a piped section for failing the landing off one. It's a huge chunk of track to have to redo for a mistake like that.

Either way, there's no F-Zero team anymore. There's no-one left to make a new one. At best you could get the Mario Kart 8 team to do it. 200CC and the F-Zero courses proved they have what it takes in my opinion.

Anyone have tips to share? Here are some strategies i've found useful on Bliss:
Use boost to compensate for shit acceleration. Boost after every speed drop, especially after landings.
Get most out of your high speed by boosting before and after boostpads, but don't let the boosts overlap.
When on long empty stretches, conserve your boost for as long as you dare. This way you can easily punish those who start boosting right at the start of empty sections.
