I'm actually really glad most of the fanart misses the point of his character, depicting him as a malevolent badass. I thought he was the guy pulling the strings the whole time, hell for a while I thought he was secretly the king, since you don't see Asgore and you hear about how the king likes to roam around.

Snowdin at least has people living there. None of them FUCKING MOVE or do anything but talk to you, but there's people. Nowhere else in the game seems to have livable spaces or places people work besides the odd shop. It takes from Snowdin to the core of Hotlands for a new place with people living there to crop up, and the stupid hotel doesn't even make sense, it doesn't even seem to be in the same area as the Hotlands.
The scenery is really bland and doesn't instill me with the sense that people DO things there, every NPC is either in a battle with you, or they stand around doing nothing, and only ever have changed dialogue after something major happens.

I somewhat agree with you. The areas people live in are mostly not ones you can go into. Like the ruins you can only see the evacuated city of Home but you never go there. And when you get to New Home you're just above? the city in strange perspective land and never go there either. So all the places people live are just out of sight or somehow on paths you can't see. One of the worst things about Undertale is how it's pretty much impossible for new people to go in without seeing fanart or anything spoiling them. Apparently most people don't even consider it a huge fucking spoiler to imply that Sans is powerful or say that he fights you. It's bullshit. It's a game that really lives off its surprises.

Even so, the fact that Papyrus wasn't in my party made it impossible to empathize with Undyne at all. Do you know how much better it would have been if Papyrus was right by my side begging me to spare her or her calling him a filty traitor? Nah, I killed that bitch because she was just another obstacle. Can you immagine the diffrent character interactions that could have been written for different party configurations? Having a party would have helped the game out immensely, especially gameplay wise. You get two pieces of equipment and one attack. That's boring as fuck.

Yes I did. You get one attack, an option to talk, spare or run and two pieces of equipment. Ocassionally you have to solve a puzzle, but they're usually very easy. That's the gameplay. It's not deep or fun, yet it had tons of potential if they worked on it just a little more. I mean fuck, monsters are made of magic, why not give the players magic attacks for killing monsters and party members for sparing them. That would have worked perfectly with the games lore. And dialogue segments are not gameplay, as enjoyable as they can be.

That's because sparing wasn't implemented very well in the first place. This is actually the reason why I killed the GOAT lady in my game. I was under the impression that you had to weaken enemies first before you could spare them, and the fight with Papyrus and Undyne reinforced this belief. I strongly believe this might have happened but even if it didn't it's still pretty believable since not even Asgore can stand a chance against a nine year old. Also we don't know what kind of deal it was. The monsters and humans probably were separated into their own camps and it could have been a single large army of humans who did it. We'll never know. I deduced within 5 minutes of starting the game that not killing anyone is probably the "true" ending. Then I promptly started killing the things that tried to kill me. Because I'm not a retard who does the true ending first in a multiple ending game.

Determination is pretty straight-forward. Whoever has the most determination is able to save and load. Save points are based on events that fills the chosen with higher than normal determination. Additionally, a save point is automatically created whenever they first became the most determined. Loading back to this point is normally known as a reset.
