incidentally homestuck is a pretty solid inversion on your typical "creation mythos", you'd think it would be insanely complicated but if you read it all in one go (without gaps in update, it also hiatused for an entire year) it explains everything just fine.
the problem is that it is constantly layering context over top of more context so the end result makes perfect sense, seeing everything that led up to it, but to a person who skips ahead after reading halfway, they will see shit like this and wig out.

My problem with homestuck is that I've encountered the fans way more than anything from the actual thing. I'm not sure I could get into it this late in the game whereas Undertale I enjoyed before it got popular.

I'd read Problem Sleuth before going into Homestuck. It's actually pretty good and will prepare you for what Homestuck will be.
And I've read Homestuck and just avoid the fans as much as possible. It's pretty easy to do if you just never go on tumblr or the threads on /co/ and simply read the comic
