Nothing 8-bit or retro, hurts my eyes. Good graphics (doesn't have to be fucking amazing) and preferably a story game. Anything as long as it has good graphics and is good.

Great aesthetic with a fucking incredible soundtrack, it's seriously fun. Still in EA, but the community is developing a shitload of new tracks, so there's a lot of playtime.

Don't get Shadowrun Returns, it's supposed to be bad. Dragonfall is better in every single way. Same price, standalone. Can't comment on LISA and Shadowgate, Hotline Miami is incredible and worth every penny, Transistor is great but short.

If you want warhammer and rats, go with skaventide. Mordheim is fun but it's ridiculously unfinished. Only 4 factions in the game so far, and three of them are human.

CoP is the most functional and well rounded of the lot. It has several VERY IMPORTANT direct ties to the previous games that you will miss by not playing the first. It is the easiest. It's also my favourite by far.
If you care about the story (you should) play SoC first. You'll get lots out of it, but if you're not used to games like it you'll find it quite difficult. Save often, save in several places. If you don't care and just want a good game to play: CoP, you'll have loads of fun.

No. It's worth playing for <2 hours and refunding, though, since that's how long it takes to get bored.
If you want to know the quality of a game, look at how long the playtimes are on steam users that rate the game "Good". Less than 10 hours means that the game has no longevity.

Played Templar Battleforce for several hours.
I'm impressed. The graphics are "indiedev" tier but the gameplay is solid.

The best ones are 1, 2, Brotherhood and AC4 Black Flag.
1 has the most interesting setting but gets repetitive after a while.
2 improves it in pretty much every way and has also a pretty interesting setting with the italian Renaissance
Brotherhood is just a continuation of 2.
And Black Flag is something for piratefans.
After Brotherhood the gameplay simply became old. AC3 showed that. The assassin parts are the weakest parts of Black Flag as well.

The DLC just gives you a bunch of crazy weapons and vehicles. They're fun to play around with, but not necessarily essential. The DLC does give you access to crazy shit right from the beginning, though, in case you don't want to have to play through story missions to unlock jets and stuff that explodes.

I don't know about Steamworks, but they did modernize the multiplayer connectivity in some way for the Enhanced Edition, so if you're looking to play multiplayer it may actually be the best option.
BG multiplayer is pretty goofy, though. It can be fun if you have the right group of people, but prepare to work together and save a lot.

I'm fine with that, It's just a bit weird simple leadheads do so much damage with simple pistol bullets.
The designers were petty generous with explosive barrels to throw around via telekinesis, like with the Gravity Gun in HL2, but the visual level design makes it hard to see those, at least to me.

Add the DLC to Don't Starve and that's what I'd keep. Steam, I find Origin annoying and if you only have one game on it, it feels like Uplay levels of annoying (well at least it doesn't totally break Blood Dragon like Uplay)

Hit the backlog and play like 30min to 1 hour of games until one grabs you. Once done with it, go find more like it.
I find that helps. Finally got me to play Crysis and I have to say all you hear about it is graphics and hard to run, but being able to cloak of invisibility shotgun badguys is awesome.

What do you usually like to play? Try switching to a completely different genre. Get to know which games are good in that genre, which games are suited for beginners. Get one.

Have a look at the past AGDQ/SGDQ recordings, pick a game that looks like it's fun to run (not reliant on rng, not too many instant-fail-states, etc.). Pick that game up and try to learn to run it in a speedy manner - don't go for WR but try to make a decent time.
