I was extremely good at BF games. In BC2 I used to arrange 1v4v4v4 and dominate the scoreboard. The "e-sport" ecene was and is a joke though, and every installation after BC2 was shit.

I can relate. I play Paradox games on the slowest speed most of the time, allowing me to maximize my efficiency and not miss a day, since I also pause a lot, even on "speed 1". It's just how I enjoy to play the game.

Pretty much just Doom these days. I still like to go to pubs sometimes anyway though, if only to see people rage and 5 people switch to Pyro.
Incidentally, a bad pyro tends to be a bigger threat to a spy than a good pyro, though the best pyros are definitely the hardest to face as a spy.

At some point I definitely started playing less and less so yeah, a lot of people surpassed me as I didn't really keep up with the meta and such. If I'm in the right mindset I think I can still beat a lot, if not most players, but I'm not as consistent as I once used to be.
There used to be a time where I took the game quite seriously and rarely lost a single round, since whenever I did lose a round it would set me back by a lot, so that could be pretty stressful at times.
Nowadays I can't really take the game seriously anymore and when I do still play I rarely really try, from a lack of motivation.
The game will always have a special place in my heart though.
But yeah, in regards to the OP, I think I used to be one of the best Blade Symphony players at some point. It's really the only game I ever got 'good' to that extend.

This, pretty much.
I think some of the main reasons people kept playing in the first place were that the developers used to updated the game fairly regularly, especially when it was still in early acces, so people kept coming back to see what's new. This slowed down a lot, especially after the game got out of early access, so a lot of people just didn't have enough of an incentive to come back, especially if they'd already sunk hundreds of hours into the game. I think people got burned out, at least did.
Another main reason I think people kept playing was because of the community. There have been several groups and clans during the game's lifespan that had servers, each with their own maps, rules, events and just general ways of doing things. Although of course there were other, smaller groups, I think the main ones were School of War, Sexy Food and Blade Rebellion. I think these helped a lot to keep people interested and playing. So after these groups stopped existing people also didn't really have this place to go anymore, which I think also helped with the 'death' of the game.
Honestly though, my friend was usually better, but we made a hell of a team. Especially considering we didn't fart around with the cash shop.

That said Blade Symphony was definitely a special game for me. The community, when it was still good, was one of the best I've ever experienced and the game was a pretty big part of my life for quite some time. Yeah in terms of it's mechanics it doesn't seem to have as much depth. However like you mentioned there is also a teamplay aspect to consider, at least in the team-based gamemodes, which wasn't really the case with Blade Symphony.
Despite it not being very deep I still quite enjoyed the combat though. It could use some improvements, but I think they got a lot of things right and despite there only being a limited amount of features in the alpha I played, I didn't really get tired of it.
Of course some of that has to do with the novelty though, so we'll have to see how the game does in the long-term, but I do have at least some hope for the game.

This shit right here. At my very best, I was completely unbeatable by players (still undefeated to this day) and I managed to beat Brutal AI's 3v1. I won a few tournaments at my local game center. Angmar is my jam, but when I feel like dicking around, dorf walls and elf bows were just fun to mess around with. I started getting good with goblins ~4 years or so after the servers went down.

I used to be very good at Worms 2, played almost like a robot. I wasn't capable of pulling the impossibly accurate ricochet of grenades like the AI could, though, but my aim was unhuman.
Other than that, I can say I'm pretty good at Smash Bros, but I think not at competitive level. Learned when I befriended a nerd who's good at any game he puts his hands on and had to figure out how to play better so I could survive against him and stop being his weekly punching bag. But we never liked wavedashing and similar faggotry, as well as meta gaming, so we didn't care about tournaments although he got a 2nd place against a Meta Faggot once. We met another guy who's naturally good at Smash and got to near our level fast, so now we are a trio perfecting itself, although chilling, biweekly.
I don't make a counscious effort to be extremely good at anything anymore because if I pass the threshold I may lose the fun. I know how I can only play Smash with these two dudes now and would rather have the game or opponents forcing me to get adequately better than autistically win everytime without giving either room to breath. In single player, for example, I like the game to shake me because it's easier to immerse myself like that.

im about to finish the singleplayer, i heard the MP was just a population of people who have refused to put down the game despite countless years of playing it and are now godlike at it. this interests me.

well, just join a server with population through the server browser. Or you could install moviebattles 2, which is almost entirely different than the base game. people still play that as well.
its mostly a bunch of really good players who either use heavy style single sabers, or dual/staff spam dudes. very fun though.

Ive been trying to get the most recent patch for MB all day and I'm sitting through hour downloads to get 1.2, then I have to get 1.3 and now I just finished 1.3 and its saying I need 1.3.2 or something. Where is the most recent patch? am I missing something?
if you want to play some multiplayer though, throw me a request on steam. I dont know if you want just regular JK or MB, but you probably know that you should at least download JA+ to play on multiplayer.

i dunno, when i first installed it it did take a couple hours but i did get the whole game. i can play both but after giving vanilla JA a chance i like its simplicity better, MB had a whole lot of buttons to map and shit and all those force powers and stuff so i decided to stick with the soldier class.
