Instead of adding thread IDs, only OPs have IDs. OP IDs follow OPs through their entire /v/ life. Meaning that if an OP makes one topic and ten minutes later that same OP makes another topic, those OPs will have the same IDs and this will allow you to find out who is the OP of the same two or more threads.

If anything, it just gives people with dynamic IPs or mobile devices (also see: Ban Evaders) a greater advantage over other posters by starting threads, and then changing IDs so that no one calls them out on samefagging their own threads.
