He and Palutena aren't what you'd expect, is the main problem.
Shulk's closer to medium/heavyweight than slow, and makes up for it with hard hits and insane reach. I think someone who can use the Monado Arts properly can really fuck up opponents, and he's got a strong counter.
Palutena's weird, but she has some solid tools and his Up Smash probably has the biggest range in the game.

abuse your grab into fair, read their dodges so you can hit them with your down smash, chuck some smartly placed gordos. Players have a hard time dealing with gordos that gont really move (tilt your circlepad up after pressing side b). if they block it you grab them, if they dodge it you punish. Shiek's needles don't reflect the gordos. be careful against sonic, because his spindashes DO reflect gordos. Against fast characters, its best to take it slow.
Oh, and abuse the shit out of your nair. it has so much priority over other moves. If you land a fast fall nair, it combos into up tilt.
Don't forget to gimp the shit out of them.
