Nah. Splatoon thread right now is /vg/ expats, you don't want to be anywhere near that. Fire Emblem is gonna be the most represented regardless of recent releases simply because it's one of the rare Nintendo franchises that has multiple girls interacting with each other.

I have wondered about that reveal. I mean, if the Hoshidans are just as much an adoptive family as the Nohrians, doesn't that kinda mean by default your Nohrian family is your REAL family because they raised you? You're not any more related to Hinoka than you are to Camilla, (not that you'd know it until you get it into your head to boink the woman you are told is your biological sister,) so the Hoshidans don't really have nature or nurture on their side.

The timeline is not clear to me, but if I understand right Corrin still lived a few years in the Hoshido family. She was a newborn when Mikoto met Sumeragi, and by the time she was kidnapped by Nohr her two younger step-siblings were born, their mother died, and Sumeragi had remarried. Though Corrin does say that she has no memory of her time in Hoshido, which I guess would put her kidnapping at around age 5 at the latest.

I think the thing that kinda puts a hole in this theory is that Sakura says she remembered that event, meaning she had to be old enough to be affected (re: traumatized) by it. And she's quite a bit younger than Corrin, so the latter being 5 would put Sakura at an age where she would've been barely able to comprehend anything.

Memory is a funny thing sometimes. Does Sakura truly remembers the event or does she remember the events other recounted to her along the years? In the same way, has Corrin forgotten everything of her Hoshidan life because she was too young to remember or because Sumeragi's death and her subsequent kidnapping traumatised her? At least one of them remembers thing they shouldn't or forgot things they should remember.
The timeline being fuzzy was probably a conscious choice, to give the player a bit of freedom regarding Corrin's age.

The Western market is usually between half and three quarters of total sales for any mainstream Japanese game, and in general the more the game sells the larger the Western market's share will be. Azura is Corrin's social equivalent, since she's ostensibly the Nohr princess kidnapped and raised by Hoshidans.
You can't really peg it either, since their dynamic changes depending on the route. It's not necessarily equivalent to say, Chrom and Robin, where Chrom is the assertive, macho, sovereign and aggressive general & frontline captain, divided between disillusionment and innate gallantry, who manifests his Naga blood bond into physical prowess, while Robin is the more reserved and logical tactician(duh), with no real longterm hangups, and wields their Grima blood bond mostly through magic(using magic in cutscenes and Ignis always incorporating magic). The female Robin is noticeably more eccentric when their supports differ.
In all routes, Azura plays the "FE strategist" in the sense that she's the one that the player character talks to, to get their bearings on where to proceed on the plot. If there wasn't a designated tactician character, it'd usually be the starter pre-promote knight.
But to that end, Corrin's personality differs quite a bit depending on the route. Azura has to spend a lot of scenes slapping some motivation into Conquest!Corrin, while the more determined and resolute Birthright!Corrin is considerably less reliant on her except when it becomes a task only Azura can do(e.g. magic singing shit). Then you get to Revelations and she's basically wikipedia, half trying to coordinate their crazy-ass plan, half explaining the batshit insane magic shenanigans involving the invisible kingdom.
Both fight with a lot of acrobatics and agility rather than the (still very fast) hammering power swings of Ike or Chrom, and both manifest magic in their abilities in some way.
They're not really prince/princess or anything like that. They're deliberately thematically similar to each other and occupy similar social standings and dynamics. The only thing more selfcest-y are Bond Units.

If you want to start out, best to go with one of the 3DS entries, which there are also a bunch of demos for. EO4 is generally the easiest, but EOU1 and EOU2(which are remakes of the first and second games in the series) have a lot of quality-of-life/gameplay/gameflow improvements implemented in the series since Persona Q(the Persona-themed Etrian Odyssey).
So if you want to experience the first one in the series, EOU1 is a safe bet, or if you just want a jumping on point, EO4 is also a viable choice.

I think the "Triforce balance" part was just in relation to the "what would Link do" part, which only shows that they weren't trying that hard. What was Zelda doing for most of OoT? Pretending to be a ninja dude and helping out in the shadows. In WW, she didn't even know she was Zelda for half the game. In plenty of others, she isn't even awake or animate for most of the game. Did none of that plunge the balance of the Triforce into chaos? Not really, because that's Ganon's job. Link could've been doing any of that shit if they were going that route.
Basically, they weren't actually entertaining the idea of a female Link to begin with, just of a female player character, and they did it in a way that backed them into a corner that didn't actually exist, so they gave up. I'm not really mad that we won't have girl Link in the new game, but I wish we could stop getting these asinine excuses when Nintendo games leave shit out these days.

But this isn't the first time Nintendo makes these kind of dumb comments regarding the ability to play as girls in the Zelda series.
Let's not forget about how in Tri-Force Heroes there are 3 Links, out of which 2 aren't THE Link. Yet all of them are guys and their reasoning was basically "Well, the prophecy called for heroes, so you can't choose gender with this kind of background".
I'd honestly say between all of this them creating Linkle only to conclude her story with "no, she isn't the hero" is like a slap in the face, but hey, that's Nintendo for you.
