Wolf Love. It moves at a snail's pace, but fuck me if it isn't one of the cutest eventual WR stories I've read. A bit rushed and lacking in some details in the beginning but improves and gets a lot darker 10-15 chapters in. Also out of all the stories that portray Weiss' dad as a massive asshole, this is by far the scariest I've seen him written.

I chuckled. But I'm also pretty sure Fallen Petals has already peaked unless V4 involves a lot more contact between the two, and I get the feeling it probably won't. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if we don't see anything more than teases of Cinder until the last few episodes of the volume.
We had a large surge in the content during V2 with that hallway scene between the two and the catsuit Cinder scene in the CCT tower, but V3 was pretty stagnant.
I'll admit me for personally part of the charm is gone post P-day. I've always seen it as Cinder exploiting Ruby's inner fears and insecurities to get an increasingly unhealthy and obsessive dependency to form in the younger girl. Or just exploiting that nativity to draw her into something a bit beyond her in general, kind of implied in fics like Cinder's Gift or Inferno.
But now with Cinder's nature revealed it has to go a much darker, A Rose Burnt to Cinders kind of route, which is fine but not my first choice.

I don't want this to devolve into some sort of ship war and this will be a wall of text a lot of which I've posted before, but :
This comment is much more true for White Rose than any other ship. Weiss doesn't dislike Ruby and they get along as teammates, but Weiss clearly still finds Ruby somewhat annoying as of V3, a point which Ruby herself admits in that conversation about Ciel Soleil. In actual canon, White Rose doesn't make much sense--despite the whole "opposites attract" trope, Ruby is a hyperactive, clumsy girl who likes weapons, video games, card games, fighting and things like adventure... Weiss is a perfectionist who greatly admires order, refinement and the more classy or cultured things in life.
There's a reason that after Yang gets framed by Merc/Emerald, Weiss goes with Blake for coffee/tea instead of going to watch more of the tournament with Ruby. They just aren't particularly well suited for each other interest or personality wise. You could have maybe made the claim about love-hate and being sour at each other in Volume 1, but after V1E16 there's pretty much no animosity shown between the two, and lets not forget that it's Weiss alone who confronts Blake about her emo tendencies at the start of the second volume.
Just in general, Weiss and Blake are very well suited for each other, they are both the more serious members of RWBY (although this dynamic has changed with the events of V3) and they grew up and out of very similar circumstances, raised by part of a faction fighting an underground war, believing they were in the right and then increasingly forced to realize the people of their "family" were doing terrible things. Blake has the potential to understand Weiss in a way optimistic Ruby coming from a loving childhood just can't.

If you're a fan of WR/BB it could just be you not liking the sight of those characters with someone else. Perhaps it's because Mono makes sense that it comes across as a much more viable threat to WR/BB than say, Enabler, Ladybug, Fallen Petals, Freezer Burn, etc. It's easy to dismiss CinderxRubles because it's pure nonsense... BlakexWeiss feels a lot more like a realistic potential instance of Weiss liking someone else more than Ruby, so it's more distressing.

Just because Cinder wasn't expecting her to be able to reform the spears and manipulate them so well doesn't change the fact that she was able to counter every one of Glynda's attacks. Cinder also didn't even bother to draw her weapons or use her glass--we've also apparently yet to see a situation she felt was dangerous enough to warrant her using her semblance.
Cinder isn't "terrible at dealing with the unexpected" she simply doesn't ever fight seriously.
It's why she's smirking in pretty much every fight, and why, after firing a massive beam at Ozpin, she used small attacks against Pyrrha, and would pause her attacking to let Pyrrha get up and recover. She plays around with opponents.

Well, Ozpin was able to at least compete with Cinder once she had the full power, and Cinder, Mercury, and Emerald beat the Maiden by themselves. I just think it's more an issue of the Maiden's power being poorly defined/ inconsistent at this point than Glynda being particularly powerful relative to any other high ranking hunter-huntress.

That's more just a convention of anime/cartoon/movie fights in general. Obviously in a real fight you press your advantage when your opponent is down, but it can add more to the audience's enjoyment of a fight if the focus is on everyone fighting a peak power. This also adds to the feeling of brutality when someone DOES get kicked while they're down.

I'm actually making an attempt at my first fanfiction ever(I blame this thread). It's some sort of "reboot" of what I would have liked RWBY to be like from the trailer. Characterization is quite different and story totally diverges from the canon. I don't know where I'm going, but I'm going there.
Very likely White Rose/ Bumblebee.I actually am not a fan of White Rose, but it's my idea of what a "canon" ship would be, even though I prefer Ladybug and I love Bumblebee, I don't see the former happening. And White Rose can be somewhat decent and makes sense in context. Surely, I'll try to give it more sense since I change the characterization.
I'm concerned about my writing style. I feel like it's very bland and not really smooth or pleasant to read. Your thoughts on pic related?

It is not as cringy as I expected it to be, but I believe it belongs as some sort of stinger for the actual show, something that'd serve as comic relief as a cliffhanger. The models are pretty awful though, but then again so are they on the main show.(I really wish they would switch to something hand-drawn, like the flashback in Burning the Candle or the story that Qrow tells, I thought it was really well done.)

Yes but it can be cute. Especially in your picture, where Blake is being the weaker, more fragile partner, notice how her legs are wrapped around Yang, and her legs in top of Yang's legs. This shows that Blake is riding Yang, pretty submissive and a hallmark of straight sex. Even more so, considering the tears and Blake has her chin resting on Yang's shoulder, a very submissive posture.
It isn't always about masculinity vs femininity, but about who is doing the fucking, and who is being fucked. Giving Weiss the suit is an indication of her "fucking" status, with Ruby in the dress, this gives her the "being fucked" status.

This is what really gets me at the end of the day.
I don't really care about my OTP White Rose being "canon" in the show or anything, but what got me into the ship was their interactions.
The dynamic between their characters is adorable and also one of the most entertaining things in the show for me, so I'd be fine with it staying platonic.

Of course, that'd be ignorant to assume every fan of the show liked it because of the ships, het or yuri. But outside of the shipping issues, the issues within the show itself, such as the writing and character development also exist, and from what I've seen, RT doesn't exactly like to admit its mistakes.

makes it sound. They've made a fuckton of mistakes. Now, with Monty dead and Shane out of the picture, maybe they will finally be able to establish a proper development process. Volume 4 will really show whether they're capable of more or they will always stay hack writers.
While I'm sure RT will milk any part of its fanbase as much as possible they don't seem to do so at the cost of the story.
They could've milked Arkos hardcore, but that's not what we got in volume 3. We still don't even have Arkos merch even though the fanbase saw it coming from Volume 1.
Of course this doesn't mean a /u/ ship is inevitable, but if it is happening I feel confident it will just happen in a way they believe serves the story. RWBY's writing and direction isn't prefect, but the mistakes seem to be one of earnest effort failing rather than outright malice some anons seem to think it was. It's not like RT's animators celebrate the rooftop scene.
