I'd like to imagine Nico is begrudgingly watching a shitty soap opera with Klara, Singularity and Karolina when Nico starts to get into the show. She suddenly screams "Twins!" While holding the Staff of One and touching both Singularity and Karolina.

Err, Palmiotti and Conner neither own the characters nor are their original creators. Their take on them is their own, but that's it.
When DC gives the series to new writers, they won't be needing their "perfect excuses" because new writers will be free to take the characters and show their own take on them (within reason).

Problem with Marvel is that they are trying too hard. DC has at least been a bit more subtle in their whole diversity schtick and their gay characters (like Midnighter for example) are entertaining enough.
Also Ivy/Harley's actually an old hat all things considered. The only thing that would compare on Marvel's side would be Carol/Jess and we know how that won't be a thing even in alternate universes.

Now compare that to Marvel comics and you see who is better for /u/. I find Marvel universe and cast of heroes/villains to be more exciting than DC and I would gladly buy an AU about gay Spiderwoman called Petra Parker or some new X-men girl who is gay from start who gets with random girls and female villains but we all know such comic for some reason will never happen, best thing we can hope from Marvel is random bi/poly stuff put there from time to time as quite side dish and even that mostly ends badly for /u/ side.
