I'm not a fan of of fake lesbian crap, but I'd still prefer we just get a faithful translation, it's nice when it works in your favor, but supporting that kind of stuff leaves you without a leg to stand on when the pendulum swings the other way.

Not really, no.
Not supporting the stance "all localisations must be faithful" is not the same thing as supporting the stance "unfaithful localisations are always acceptable" - that would actually be a logical fallacy. For example, if someone's argument for justifying the changes in Soleil's supports is that a good representation of gay girls in media is important, then the next time a localisation change results in a worse representation of gay girls the exact same argument would still be valid and using it wouldn't make them an hypocrite.

The original Soleil support was poor writing. It has nothing to do with gay conversion or being "creepy" or whatever; it just didn't make any fucking sense.

It's a matter of personal belief more than anything; no one asks for something to be censored they don't truly believe to be 'harmful'.
Saying it's totally okay because these changes are 'good' is entirely based on perspective; it's nice if it works in your favor and awful when it doesn't.
You can do what you want, but once you start altering things you don't like you should expect that to be extended to people who may not share your beliefs.

What? Corrin is bisexual by definition, and so are Niles and Rhajat. The options are severely limited to only one of either gender, but it still counts. And the mere presence of S supports in the original and localization means Soleil counts as bi too (she even says she doesn't mind guys, just vastly prefers girls). It's just that her het supports are stupid and contrived and the impossibility of S supporting girls makes the bi label dubious.

I'd rather not start a debate on the nature of belief, so I'll simply say that no, not all beliefs are equal. In this case both beliefs - "good representation of gay girls in media is important" and "any representation of gay girls in media is bad" - make testable claims, or at least they can be formulated in ways where they make testable claims. Meaning we can test whether these beliefs are true or false, so neither can hide behind "it's just a matter of perspective" anymore.

Saying that Corrin is bisexual by definition makes as much sense as saying Corrin is both male and female by definition, or has 30 different hair color at the same time by definition, or is married to every possible love interest by definition. The options are always there, but why would options you definitely haven't taken in a playthrough still be true for that playthrough? Whether Corrin is straight, gay or bi is as much part of character customization and roleplaying as her gender, hair color, or spouse.

Still, baby steps. Fates seems to have reacted to a number of criticisms about Awakening, so progress will likely continue to be made.
I feel like they will gradually loop around to where they started for supports, ironically enough; rather than basically every male and female unit in the army being able to pair up, each unit will probably end up with fewer support partners to more clearly define their preferences and most important relationships. It'd be a little more realistic than the other eventuality where everyone is bi.

It's not really anything since there's really no character interaction. It's just a fun puzzle platformer.
You play as a cop in MSF1 capturing the hooligan sisters, then in the second one you're rescuing the girls who've reformed. The only male character of note is Patty's robot partner.
The between-level art that doesn't involve Patty chasing down the sisters has them having fun with each other, and even then, there's fun to be had with the cop/criminal dynamic.

To be fair, put in context that was actually a massive step forward, even if done merely for the sake of pleasing a part of the fandom. When it comes to stuffs like this the difference between 0 and 1 is much bigger than the difference between 1 and 10. It's only because Japan started so far back and that (some) Western video games have moved so far ahead that it feels like a full yuri marriage, no "if" or "but", is a baby step.
