So, I finished my second playthrough. I thought it held up very well and I appreciated the differences some of your choices made. There's nothing earth-shattering, but Kate's fate in particular really changes the mood of the rest of the game (and purposefully picking the options that made her jump felt so bad). There's much less of a sense of Max being any kind of a hero and her desperation to keep Chloe alive reminds you of her earlier failure. Sacrificing Chloe would also allow her to get Kate back.
It's also nice to be able to enjoy the story for what it is without having to obsess about theories and then being disappointed when they didn't pan out.

I'm watching a Japanese let's play and they have changed quite a bit of dialogue like Nathan simply saying he could do anything to the school, but doesn't actually reference blowing it up like in the US version. One of the hella instances I distinctively remembered got translated as kuso (shit). They didn't really put too much effort into it or I didn't catch it, my Jap isn't that good to be honest.

It's right now number 5 on PS4 game bestsellers (15th game product overall) for Amazon.co.jp. Searching for "ライフイズストレンジ" on twitter seems to yield quite a few tweets about the game on Japanese Twitter with fairly positive impressions. I'd say it's overperforming, considering it's a niche Western game.
One interesting thing to note about the translation is they translated the line where Chloe says "girl-on-girl action" to "百合" (yuri).

I kind of wonder how Japanese players see the game's queerness.
Even before the game was out, when we just had a few screenshots, people already thought that blue-haired chick looked kinda gay.
Chloe, with her short blue hair, her punk outfit, her beat-up old truck and the long, lingering shot in romantically setting sunlight as she drives along with Max has one or two markers that kind of instantly peg her as someone who might not be entirely straight. (Also the 'angel' line.)
I kind of wonder how Japanese players react to Chloe's... everything.
But I don't know any Japanese and wouldn't know where to look for their reactions, so I guess it'll remain a mystery to me.

I just thought of the saddest thing. Why did I think this? I'm sad. Help. So, this is still my older Pricefield headcanons, but anyway... Chloe dies of natural causes, Max can only rewind to the last five minutes before Chloe dies. She only has the strength to do so that much as her powers faded with age, or something to that effect. She does so, just reliving that moment as many times as she can. Finally, she gives up because the pain is too much and dies a day later, finally with her beloved.

I've been listening to Obstacles a lot. The lyrics fit the situation so well I'm guessing the ending must have been written with the song in mind, unlike Spanish Sahara, which is a good song, but doesn't have quite the same lyric resonance, what with Max appearing distinctly non-furious. I particularly like how Obstacles' first line "let's say sunshine for everyone" takes on a new meaning after when everyone certainly did not get sunshine.

I think 'fury' is meant to reference the greek furies, spirits of vengeance that would drive people mad, suggesting the difficulty Max will have overcoming her experiences and Chloe's death.

It was generally not possible to avoid the Furies' vengeance, even with divine help (Okay, Athena managed to save Orestes through negotiations and bribery). If Max is pursued by metaphorical Furies, the implication would be that she ends up killing herself, which isn't really the vibe the animation is giving.
