Not really. There's some I stick to when I'm doing stuff, I'll tend not to work on content (whether it's typesetting or writefagging) for anything outside my usual stable, but I don't mind people dabbling in alternative pairings.
There's some where I just don't like any alternatives (Yuugi/Parsee being the one that comes to mind) but that's less about the pairing and more about said alternatives.

Dynasty is probably your best bet for hard-typeset stuff.
Specifically outside that set, Danbooru has translations of some stuff from pixiv. Unfortunately a lot of Touhou stuff never gets scanned to move west.
I'd suggest Personal Color, Vivit Gray, and Karaagetarou as starting points. Also if you're interested in not just yuri, setz and Bomber Grape do good comedy.

Well I think part of it has to do with how Meiling comes off as an actually nice person in a series/setting where most characters are antagonistic dicks. One of the written works has a few random humans talking about how they wouldn't have even guessed she was a youkai after having talked to her, and she's generally pretty chill so long as you don't try forcing your way past her into the Mansion.
As for pairing her with Sakuya, well that's just your typical kind of "Big goofy character warms up a serious, cold characters heart" kind of pair, or just the clash of personalities, etc.
There's tons more ridiculous pairs in Touhou really.

You could sort of think of it as the difference between sweet and savory.
MeilingxSakuya material tends to be bright and cheery, lovey-dovey, cuddles and sunshine. Two people just happy to be together and around each other.
RemiliaxSakuya material tends towards the more subtle feelings, the whole Master/Servant Dominant/Submissive, the temptation and desire, dancing in moonlight and nips at the neck in the dark.
I wouldn't consider one particularly better than the other, simply different. I personally flip back and forth between the two depending on my mood.

I went through all the Reimu/Alice doujins on Dynasty and none of them really had me convinced. Oinari is a pretty good writer, but their super friendly and outgoing Reimu is pretty far from her normal characterization. Reimu and Alice are both usually the person being pursued in their pairings, which is why they're an awkward fit together.
I liked the doujin called Underwear the most. No romance there, just some drunken dress-up followed by them hooking up.

Reimu's predecessor ("sendai Hakurei no miko" on Danbooru, no regular fanon name) x Tenma (tengu leader). As far as I can tell there's not even fanart of it, or really anything other than my own headcanoning (I wish I could draw or write...). First got the idea from a random Touhou pairing generator and thought it'd actually be pretty interesting.
Just because the two probably fought a few times (Tengu expanding their influence vs. Hakurei protecting the humans) and the idea of pre-spellcard foemance interests me. I picture Tenma as being a bit of a troll while the Hakurei's very serious (as she needs to be in a pre-spellcard Gensokyo).

Nah, not really. Generally the big pairs for Reimu that involve someone that lives a long time/or potentially could, e.g. Marisa) have a generational/eternally recurring romance story somewhere in their stock of doujins/pixiv image sets.
There's even a decent handful where Yukari's had a hand in producing various generations of the Hakurei Mikos, though the shenanigans involved are generally /d/'s domain.

Yes, that's the most common interpretation, but some deny it.
The natural progression from that view is that all Hakurei Miko are adopted by their predecessors or by Yukari if the predecessor dies early.
Its so they do not have conflicts of interest caused by having family in the village.
Again this view, while common, is not universally accepted because some claim its too "dark" and "angsty".

I don't think youkai are (directly) involved in the selection of a new Shrine Maiden, since there's no way the human villagers would be okay with that.
It's more likely that they select some poor orphan girl to take on the role, with a bit of meddling from Yukari and other interested parties.
That's not to say Reimu's death wouldn't precipitate a crisis. The barrier would probably fail very quickly without Yukari and Ran taking up the slack. They'd want someone to step into the role quickly.
It wouldn't surprise me if the villagers have already started training her successor. Plus there's Sanae, I'm sure part of the reason Yukari allowed (caused?) the Moriya to come to Gensokyo is to have a backup miko.

I think Marisa would bring the dad jokes and be pretty casual in general, letting the kid wander off (while hovering just close enough to intercept any very, very stupid youkai), while Alice is the one who acts strict but secretly spoils the kid when she doesn't think Marisa is paying attention.

Meiling is definitely the laid back Dad type, and the more physically affectionate of the two. In a situation where their kid is trying to sneak out of the house to see [Insert inoffensive Love Interest choice here] she's the one that would turn a blind eye to it, or maybe even give them a thumbs up and a "good luck" depending on who it is. She's also the one who would go from 0 to 60 on the seriousness meter in a split second in the event of any sort of danger. She'll take it much harder and more personally if their children gets upset or they get into an argument with them.
Sakuya meanwhile is naturally the more strict of the two, and the one most certainly not to cross or try to talk back to. She however is the one more likely to cave under pressure if her kid(s) give her the puppy eyes treatment. Generally the one who worries about their future more, either pushing them to keep up with their schooling, teaching etiquette, eating well, etc etc. Will be the one who worries much more about relationships when they reach that age, and is the one who gets into the proverbial emotional boxing matches when they hit the rebellious teen years.
I've pretty much got the whole story worked out, and its one of the things I'd like to actually put to paper if I could ever get off my ass about it.
