It will actually be useful in judging the direction of the second season. Scenes like part of the mountain duet and Reina talking about her feelings towards Taki-sensei are highly likely. If KyoAni includes the scene where Hazuki says that Kumiko secretly likes Shuichi, it's over. And if by some miracle, they focus on all the build up and have both confessions of love, the movie could work as a self-contained yuri movie.

The amount of hate I see for it everytime it's mentioned is disproportionate for the simple chinese lesbian cartoon drama that it is. In turn, I formed a knee-jerk reaction after it.
I've just seen so many people throwing big words around like "ridiculous symbolism" or "unrelatable/believable characters" in situations where they don't really fit or aren't very well explained to the point that I cannot reach any conclusion other than thinking a great part of this community simply dislikes drama and cannot emotionally cope with the events transpiring in such works. Every fucking time there's this big series that takes itself seriously, it somehow becomes impossible for people to look away and say "this isn't for me", and they start making a big fuss about it on here over completely subjective matters, but attempting to build their arguments on objective concepts. It's specially notorious because otherwise this is a pretty slow board.
Feelings is nothing special. It depicts a great trainwreck in which everything is handled poorly by the characters because of their faulty natures, and it's fascinating because of that. There's nothing more, nothing less to it. Yet, I've seen people point at the author and start thinking about how horrible things must have happened to her or how she's fucked in the head, which borders on disrespectful considering we don't even speak her language.
