I think simpsons is better, part because of its longevity (even if the new stuff is pretty shit it means the show had in itself the ability to change) and part because it is culture defining. Its kind of like lotr and fantasy i guess. It had an incredible influence. Of course a lot depends on what you define as best, and maybe futurama has better overall quality, but i wonder how the simpsons would fare if you had to dump 4/5 episodes since it has 5 times as many. How good are the 140 best simpsons episodes?
