The show heavily focuses on the action elements of the series and pretty much completely ignores all the mystery and character driven parts as well as the more cerebral elements. This is why pretty much every single vision and dream was cut except for Dany's HotU vision which they fucking ruined anyway. Because too much TV and not enough good TV has taught the average viewer that the only way to have tension in a scene is if someone is holding a weapon in someone else' face.
Jon Snow is one of my favorite characters in the entire series but I think there is a decent and oft ignored argument that the series itself would actually benefit from his simply being killed off.
On the one hand, it would confuse and infuriate many people who consider him one of, if not THE, main hero in the story but it would also allow the story to go down a path I think most people would never suspect.
So my question is what are some positive outcomes the death of Jon Snow might bring to the story, and what do you think it would ultimately change? If anything.

One of the details they note in the episodes around her is that Tommen gradually drifts away from his mother's influence over time, and without him, Cersei doesn't actually have any military power in the city after Jaime leaves, because the Master of War rightly recognizes her as the conniving bitch she is. She had the Mountain and Qyburn in her pocket at that point, and no one else... until Qyburn got Varys's birds on his side, as mentioned.
That's actually one of the most tragic parts of Tommen's reign: He actually, with a *lot* of luck and support from his peers, might have been a decent king, but he had the distinct weakness of being the son of the absolute worst mother in the world, so he never really has a chance at growing as a king at all.

So I guess I interpreted this "mark" business differently from everyone else but I didn't get the impression that simply having a mark on you and then passing any magical barrier will break the barrier.
I thought the way it works is that you have to be inside of a protected area and then the Night King has to mark you while you're inside of it. Thats the reason why the NK couldnt just mark any random wildling or nights watch ranger. It had to be someone he could touch while they were inside the protected area, and thats obviously impossible for anyone except the 3ER.
I think bran simply passing the wall and breaking the magic would be too easy and too stupid. The mark plot device will probably come up again but not the same one. Bran's mark in 6x05 was just the setup for something similar happening again after bran is already past the wall.
