During the battle, Jon Snow and Smalljon Umber come face to face, and instead of fighting Snow, Umber turns around and starts to walk away. I think some anon a while ago pretty much summed up a lot of Preston's videos- he's managed to stumble across, within the text, a lot of sub-plots and ideas GRRM actually had two decades ago, that he's since forgotten about or abandoned. The Darry mystery, for example, seems very laid out and Preston's managed to find the pieces, but GRRM decided to not follow up on that sub-plot.
Similarly, GRRM left some clues early on allowing him the possibility of maybe having ASOIAF be a scifi series, since he is a gardener writer, he doesn't plan it all out, he leaves himself with opportunities. But as time and years went on, and ASOIAF got more successful, GRRM abandoned that concept and opportunity and stuck to fantasy.
Preston is basically correctly laying out what proto-ASOIAF was, before GRRM changed his mind on most of the hidden clues.
But Preston is right on the money for the general themes GRRM likes to write about.
