That's why I think this is a pinnacle of whether the universe presented to us in Trek could exist/would exist/should exist to some varying degree.

Ralph Offenhaus was a successful and shrewd corporate hawk who lived to make deals and was cut-throat, like a Trump or Cuban or Branson type.

Suddenly, he awakes in the 24th century and everything he's worked for is non-existent. The thrill of the chase is gone and he now sits a naked king reborn from the past.

Even Ralph Offenhaus looks upon this future as too pat, things are just too perfect for him.

Later in the episode, he even calls out Gul Du- I mean the Romulan commander as being unaware of Picard and the Federations intentions. His instincts are still sharp and he can still tell better than anyone on the bridge that the Romulan is playing brinkmanship but more importantly that he's as clueless about the destroyed colonies as Picard is.

Sorry to be lengthy, but of all the characters that show up in the series, Ralph stuck with me because he felt very real and asked the primal question about whether or not "post-scarcity" is something for us to look forward to.
>>
>>71465207
Apparently in a book he becomes the Federation ambassador to the Ferengi Alliance.
>>
>>71462455
>after Guinan
Guinan was mostly forgettable though. She was furniture until suddenly a character has a dilemma and needs to be alone, she would pop in, tell one of her stories, pop out and then the problem would be solved.
>>
>>71463252
He wanted to push the barrel away as it was falling but Picard told him to stand down.

lol fucking perfect

Which is funny to me as well because the Ferengi in DS9 also filled Ralph's shoes with Quark who asked similar questions.

Another one of those "post-scarcity" situations is when that warhead smashes through the Defiant but fails to explode in a conference room where James Cromwell who was playing some random bird looking alien and Quark are engaged in negotation.

Quark previously called his negotiation tactics as "nothing more than barter" and that there was no victory or defeat involved; no risk and no challenge.

Then, they are forced to work together and take the ultimate challenge in trying to defuse the warhead and have two options. Quark says 50/50 odds; gets no better than that and just pulls it.

One of my favorite Quark moments of the series but Quark may be my favorite main cast character of DS9.

They're nearly destroyed by species 8472 on the series Voyager. Species 8472 came from a weird parallel galaxy or universe or whatever called fluidic space where instead of a vacuum, space is made up of a weird multicolored liquid.

Species 8472 is the antithesis of the Borg in that they are super biologically advanced, so much so that they can't be assimilated. Thus, the Borg can't learn about their weaknesses, because they assimilate and adapt instead of investigating by more traditional means.
>>
>>71465182
On the programme they are defeated through backdoors and trickery, in the film Picard attacks the weak point for massive damage, Voyager just one shots cubes and gives the queen mind aids because fuck the timeline.

She certainly wasn't a bad character, but she was forgettable to me.

I know they wanted to keep her all mysterious with the hand gestures to Q, but I feel like she didn't get any character growth or back story aside from "Hey I hung out with mark twain".

In fact could you describe Guinan as a Mary Sue? She was perfect at everything we saw her try, like the target practice with Worf, his speciality. Her advice allowed her to solve every problem. Did she ever actually face any adversity aside from her planet being assimilated in Generations?

The Noh-Jay Consortium made Jake likeable finally because it had a hilarious moment where he's in front of Weyoun who thinks they are involved in some sort of plot against him.

If you count Star Trek Armada as canon, the Species 8472 starbase starts off in a larval stage that is clearly the same as tin man.

Take that how you want as for canonicity.
>>
>>71465820
True. Not one of the more interesting species, though, since they're not explored more. They're only in like, three episodes I think (two parter with intro to 7 of 9 and one follow up episode involving a training camp for invasion of the Federation).

>>71465933
Eh, I can see why you might think that, but the super weapon 8472 had involved multiple ships linking together

Plus - and this is just my opinion - the exterior of Tin Man and the exterior of a species 8472 ship are too dissimilar in design for me to say that there's a connection there.

>>
>>71466405

Something about Seven and the other drones finding out that the war was going badly and millions of drones had just been killed so they had to get to fluidic space and deploy the warhead their before they were able to destroy the Borg.

A point that's shady in storytelling but not all that bad if you consider the previous event before they end up there.

Basically, Seven and the drones activated the deflector array and Chakotay flushed them by decompression but it was too late.

O'Brien's not the only guilty party.
Nearly everyone on DS9 at some point openly stereotypes Ferengi.
Romulans are constantly considered paranoid and deceptive.

Of all the races that are prone to the least open barbs are the Klingons.

Why? Because Klingons snap at the slightest bit of banter and get violent over the slightest of words.

Not really.

The Klingon empire is corrupt and the "honor" they seek is analogous to the "honor" black people seek.

Klingons believe that honor comes with victory in battle, and their thirst for combat knows no bounds both in combat with other races and with each other.

Black people similarly believe that physical dominance and winning fights gives them credibility as a people. They have a lust for conflict and fighting that, like the Klingons, is insatiable.

I've just found a massive plot-hole in Star Trek. On stardate 46379.1 the USS Enterprise D arrives at Deep Space Nine "to assist in the reconstruction of the Bajoran aqueduct systems, damaged during the Cardassian occupation". The exterior view of the Enterprise docked at an upper pylon is shown in both the DS9 episode "Emissary" and in the Next Generation episode "Birthright, Part I". However, in the TNG episode Bajor is nowhere to been seen. Both episodes take place before the station was moved closer to the wormhole by order of Major Kira in "Emissary, Part II"
