I sort of enjoyed the Force Awakens in a Saturday matinee kind of way.
It was pretty much Nu-Trek: Star Wars version. But the movie played it incredibly, almost offensively safe, and gave us story beats we've all seen before not only in other films, but in other Star Wars films.

I dunno, I thought it was fantastic but I've loved all of Charlie Kaufman's films, she is definitely one of the highlights though, her performance is excellent, (as is to be expected).

Indeed. Cameron is right about this. The Force Awakens is an inferior retread of the Original Trilogy. People fell into the hype since it was the first film in a decade and many were still upset about the quality of the Prequels. Removed from that context, its problems become glaring. However, I'd say it's okay.
