I was thinking Ninth or Seventh, actually.

The crossover companion is gonna be Jean Grey, and the plot would be someone building Sentinels earlier in the timeline then they're supposed to.

That sounds really interesting as a crossover idea desu. Altho I'd be tempted to use Mystique as a crossover companion purely because she can make herself look like anyone.

Nine and Seven. Hmm not sure. Nine is more traumatized, so prob the better choice for dramatic effect.

It lacks the climax of the original which is the only legitimately good bit. And the added bits aren't great either, her delivery of "but I have the heart and stomach, of a KIINGG!" is kekkerino and the 'run you've got to run away' bridge is naff
>>
>>71296356
Tbh I'm not sure about Jean's character. She was one of many X-men characters, and I've never read the comics. However, have always liked Wolverine in the movies, and if he loves her then she must be a great girl.

That song is so long I can't even find the climax bit. And the "king" delivery is hilariously bad and combined with the bridge and the "ha!" in the background make it better by making it sound like some crazy cult song that she uses to brainwash people.

>That song is so long I can't even find the climax bit
You could definitely shave at least a minute off it (it feels like it's spinning its wheels until the climax, and the outro is pants) but I mean the bit that begins at 5:38 when all the percussion kicks in and shit.

It's never length that's the problem, it's always just a lack of good structure to hold the listener's attention. There are amazing 30+ minute long songs.

All my fave eps of the reboot have been written by Moffat.

Am I the only one worried that he's probably not going to write for Who after s10?
>>
What if Chibnall literally introduces the Master's daughter as the new edgy original character do not steal?

>>71298732
It's a realistic worry to have, he'll have spearheaded 6 full seasons of the show and like RTD he might just want to go back to being a fan, get shot of having to write the damn thing ever again.

But I have a small hope that he'd still pitch in with the odd episode now and then. Whereas you can tell RTD always has other things on his mind, it seems like Moffat could squirrel away writing Doctor Who fanfic for eternity.

Old news m8.

It wasn't a surprise for Who fans, Dalton has been in Penny Dreadful for awhile now. Even an ex James Bond can't film 2 shows at the same time in 2 different countries.
>>
>>71298854
I will never understand why they went with a surfboard in the first place.
At least the Tom Baker diamond fit in with the round vortex imagery. This thing doesn't.

>>71298964
Kind of glad they didn't get him desu. It was such a knowingly crap showing for Rassilon that actually reprising an iconic portrayal of him would have actively undermined it.
>>
>>71299341
But... just imagine Dalton in that face-off in the Gallifrey outlands. Would'be been GOAT, instead of just a prelude to the Clala resurrection.
>>
>>71299738
>Would'be been GOAT
You'd have been sat there thinking 'Why is Rassilon going down like such a little bitch?' and 'Why are they wasting Timothy Dalton on such a weak part?'
>>
>>71299738
>Would'be been GOAT, instead of just a prelude to the Clala resurrection.
but that's still what it would have been in the end. If he showed up we probably would have complained that he was absolutely wasted as an actor and did nothing to show off his talents.
>>
>>71299828
Nope. I'd have been thinking that 'Why is Rassilon even bothering? He has no chance of winning' while at the same time enjoying the battle of the Dalton/ Capaldi dramatics.
>>
Gallifrey is boring. It is yet another society with elites and ordinary people. Much the same as Earth.

We all in a way want to find out the Doctor's origins, but if we find that out all the mystery is gone.
>>
>>71300004
But to be fair, after that we did think it made Rassilon more likely to return in the future for revenge or whatever. And you'd certainly want Timothy Dalton for that...

I would like Donald Sumpter to come back to the role if Rassilon does come back though. Perhaps in a more calculative and manipulative role, an intellectual opponent to the Doctor who isn't bonkers like the Master, rather than a man who shouts and has a shiny glove.

I think people who say that children will be too afraid to watch Doctor Who do children a great disservice. They can handle a lot more than we give them credit for, and we coddle them too much. 12 year old me would probably be less afraid of a scary film than 21 year old me.

>“I wish those people would do a bit of research. Go and discover what children are reading now. Harry Potter’s very dark. All the Young Adult literature is very dark. And children are dark and serious people.” - Moffat
>>
>>71318831
"Parents would be terribly irresponsible to leave a six-year-old to watch it alone. It's geared to the intelligent fourteen-year-old, and I wouldn't let any child under ten see it." - Robert Holmes

Holmes, while an excellent writer, and possibly correct about the target audience (I mean he WAS writing it), is wrong in my view about not letting young'uns watch
>>
>>71319003
I think it depends on what era of the show he said that for. The "intelligent fourteen-year-old" line might be a bit much though. It reminds me of that Moffat quote about how proud he is to be in charge of two shows that assumes their audience is very intelligent. Pretentious.
>>
>>71319253
I'd rather they wrote to an intelligent audience than ever try to dumb it down for the masses, however pretentious it might sound
>>
>>71320231
Sure, that's what they should strive for. But acting like they've hit their mark, or that regular 14 year olds aren't smart enough for it, is a bit much. Holmes' statement isn't so bad because at least he still recognised it's for kids, and he actually wrote good stuff.
