They don't want to get culturally enriched by the mountain clans, but that's it.
The Vale has always been active in the realm politics. Arryn's married into the royal family often, Jon led the Vale to the rebellion, they were involved in the Dance of Dragons, preconquest queen of the Vale sought allies in Braavos, Vale tourney knights go to tourneys around the realm pretty regularly, many were eager to join the war of five kings, and Royces historically married to the Starks quite often. It makes perfect sense for them to go and help.

That's just one castle. The Eyrie doesn't actually hold the entire Vale inside of its walls.
