Hufflepuff has Cedric Diggory and it's generally described as a second-class Gryffindor. The differences between the two houses are almost non existant.
Ravenclaw has... an asian bitch who had the hots for Harry for a while... and Lockhart, Quirrell and le quirky Luna. Truly the best house!

Yeah. Which is kinda fair. Since a decent amount of them would be the children of literal Deatheaters who were about to lay siege to the castle. They didn't really have time to sort out the naughty ones from the alright ones.
But it's also kind of because of Rowling not writing more complexities into the houses. Having Slytherin be the naughty house was good for the first book, but she could have shifted the perspective gradually and introduced some Slyherin students that weren't assholes. That probably would have been a more powerful moment, actually. Rather than having McGonagall HOWEVER the Slytherins yet again there could have been a whole bunch of them that stand up and declare they want to fight against Voldemort.
