This season is fine as base entertainment, but it truly is the worst of them. Arya is underdeveloped and barely more skilled and has no real powers. Dany and that whole thing is a reboot. Tyrions diplomacy should have worked and if not, regardless that entire thing is ridiculous. The uncle showing up in the north but really not doing shit yet makes me feel like Brans storyline will remain the boring outside story that means nothing.

Technically, they didn't ever confirm that Sansa wrote to LF, and you can only confirm it through leaks or by turning Sansa's letter upside down, and try to make out the blurry text. Last we saw LF, Sansa said she didn't ever want to see him again. So yeah..it'll be "unexpected" and when things look grim, LF and the vale will show up and turn everything around

Deux ex Machina is something unexpected, out of left field. The Vale army coming is as obvious as it can get. We got Cersei tell Littlefinger to strike against the Boltons with the Knights of the Vale last season, we got Littlefiinger's scene with Sweetrobin this season with LF telling them it's time for the Vale to join the fray, we got LF tell Sansa about the Vale army ready to battle the Bolton if she so wishes. It's been set up pretty clearly.
