I was gonna watch for good 'ol Billy Bob, but is it just another overstated show or is it the masterclass critics say?
>>70854802
It's literally the best show of all time. At least for me.
>>70854802
Yeah, just watch it.
>>70854802
not that good. better than lots of shows on right now, but nothing to write home about.
>>70854802
It's definitely overstated but still very high quality.
Watch it.
>>70854802
Would be better if you watch it without any expectations.
>>70854802
it sucks
>>70854802
It's really good if you just remember that the movie also had an underlying theme of dark absurdity.
>>70854802
Season 1 and 2 are bothgood, just in different ways.
Of course I'm Minnesotan so I catch a lot of the subtle cultural "in-jokes" so your mileage may vary.
It's the best American show since golden age tv died with MM.
Not perfect but pretty good.
>>70854802
Just watch the first season, then do some mental gymnastics to convince yourself the second season never existed.
>>70854832
I doubt anything's as great as The Wire for me but I'm gonna check it out. Noticed FX has been grabbing a lot of critic darlings lately so I'm gonna give 'em a go. Loved The Shield.
>>70854802
First season is excellent, second season is very mediocre and can be fairly safely skipped. They are separate stories anyway.
It's more like a 10-hour movie cut into 10 pieces, so you should binge-watch all of them in one sitting. It's very good though.
>>70854802
>just another overstated show
>>70854953
>>70855082
People didn't like the second season? I loved it.
>>70855193
It's good but Season 1 is a masterpiece.
ACES
>watch the movie
>loved it
>maybe i should watch the tv show
>enter thread about it
>there's fucking aliens in it
What's the explanation, seriously?
The show must be good for people to not relentlessly shit on it for having aliens in it, but it's still really fucking weird.
>>70854802
am i the only one that can't absolutely stand watching this actor? something about him infuriates me, and it almost never happens with any other. not saying he is a bad actor, i just can't stomach his presence.
>>70854802
isn't that the show with the doomsday killer?
>>70855264
>What's the explanation, seriously?
Season 2 has aliens. Season 1 is still solid.I liked season 2 though. Especially with how obviously they foreshadowed the aliens but only a few people on /tv/ believed it before it happened
>>70855273
His performance in Fargo is 15/10.
>>70855193
It's a bit boring and it didn't have Lorne Malvo. I also disliked the ayy lmao stuff and SJW pandering.
>>70855273
Martin Freeman is excellent.
>>70855322
>SJW pandering
When?
Peggy Blumquist was a deluded feminist who got BTFO by the law.
>>70854970
Is The Shield or The Wire good? What's the show like exactly?
>>70855428
The Shield is a fast paced high intensity crime drama, but focusing on crooked cops instead of criminals. A must watch series.
The Wire's at a bit slower pace, and the main character of the show is the city it takes place in. Perfect writing, performances, everything. Probably the widest scope of a show with at least 20 fully fleshed out characters. Following drug dealers to cops to politicians to school kids.
>>70855264
the aliens are literally Deus Ex Machina, it just adds to the coincidental nature of the Fargo universe
>>70855466
Thanks, I'll try them out soon. I've been looking for a show to binge-watch lately.
I don't understand why I don't see more of Martin Freeman.
>>70855369
the black guy and the white girl
>>70855636
Well he just died in the Orlando Club shooting.
>>70855292this; UFO in first episode - people surprised by aliens in episode 8 or 9 or whichever it was.
>>70855636
He's in so many projects senpai.
He was just in the new Captain America flick.
>>70855719
The nigger fucked her over
if anything this show was redpilled as fuck, all the feminists got BTFO in horrific ways fro thinking they knew better than the men.
>>70855636
>more of Martin Freeman.
100+ hours of Dildo Buggens aren't enough for you?
>>70854802
For what it's worth, best show I've seen in a while. Very interesting characters, fine line between 'quirky' and dark and full of suspenseful moments. I think it's well worth the watch.
>>70855786
He was one of the few bright spots of that fuckawful trilogy.
>>70855314
>>70855273
There isn't a whole lot of Martin Freeman's work that I enjoy but I think that's due to his choice of roles. He is absolutely stellar in this show.
>>70856035
there was nothing bright in the hobbit.
>>70855781
Peggy got nearly a whole bloodline killed, and became actualized.
>>70854970
I will never understand how people gold The Wire in such high regard. What was I not seeing?
>>70856198
Maybe you're gay or something?
>>70856198
I don't know man, maybe it's just not for you. Personally don't see how someone can't hold it in high regard.
>>70856198
All the characters felt so genuine, the plotlines were super interesting. It felt like a living, breathing story. I could see people thinking it's boring at the start, but it's one of my favourite shows ever.
>>70856113
She's also getting butt-fuckedscissoredin prison
Amazing.
S2>S1>Everything else on TV
>>70858026
that girl is literally my girlfriend. she said that she got a role in a show called fargo and that she would play a cashier. we got a lot of money from that scene.
>>70858531
she is very qt, fuck her extra hard for me
>>70858559
i will, family
>>70854802
Watch it, I finished it yesterday and it's brilliant. Didn't like both seasons for the first few episodes, but especially season 2 gets so good after watching some.
>>70858615
How could you not like the first episode of season one?
>>70858845
First one was good, it just didn't get me that fast and I felt like Lorne with his coolness and his jokes seemed to me as it was forced.
Another minus for season 1: FBI-niggers.
>>70854802
It's amazing.
>watched fargo as a young teen or a kid, whenever it came out
>"This is based on a true story"
"ooooh, cool"
>fastforward to the series
>still believe it's based on a true story
>season 2
>aliens
>read up on if its really based on a true story
>turns out its not actually a true story, not even the movie
What the fuck?
>>70854802
Probably top 10 of all time.
>>70859143
you have been Coen'd
>>70855719
The girl was a bored white trash criminal family brat, not exactly a role model so idgaf. Or maybe I'm not /pol/ enough for here.
>>70859143
>watched Fargo movie a couple years back
>hated it
>couple of months later everybody's talking how good the Fargo show is
>am I being memed?.jpg
>watch it anyway
>loved it
I gotta rewatch the movie, maybe I missed something because right now in my mind it's: show >>> most stuff >>> shit > the movie
>>70854970
FX is overly underrated. Their shows like Fargo, The Americans, The Shield, SoA, have always had good writing and consistency throughout the seasons.
The meme networks like HBO and Netflix used to churn out good shows. But after the plebs came rushing in, they became mediocre.
It uses it's "true crime" format to justify/excuse plot convenience. Its garbage.
>>70855719
grow up
>>70854802
Reminder the Lester did nothing wrong
>>70861032
Why do you think the movie's bad? What didn't you like about it?
>>70854802
It's one of the best shows from the last few years. The first season is GOAT. Don't listen to the plebs.
>>70862116
yea, the writers realized that, then they had him send his cute asian wife to get murdered by malvo.
>>70855273
>disliking Martin Freeman
Of all the actors you could dislike, dude. Come on.
Eh
First season was pretty enjoyable but like other anons said, overrated. It's like watching a knockoff of the Coen bros.
>>70862195
I'd do the same. I like cute chicks getting murdered. Too bad he killed her instantaneously though, it would've turned me on more if he tortured her first before killing her.
>>70862232
Fargo is the only thing I've enjoyed him in, Annoying little faggot usually.
what time period will season 3 be in?
>>70862158
I'm not sure desu. I just remember being super bored the entire time and the main character being cringy and annoying. But again, I'd have to rewatch to make sure I didn't get a wrong impression the 1st time b/c I loved the show.
Also the show kinda made me realize what they were trying to achieve with the main character in the movie.
>>70862604
>>70855193
Season 2 was ball crazy, and it was awesome. More real people, acting how they would act in unnatural situations.
Malvo was too OP godlike for that show... didn't care for him in S1.
>>70858026
>>70862604

>>70854802
Yeah the first season is good, second not so good.

Did the hitman die in the end? Can someone spoiler the ending parts of season 1 for me right now I can't remember shit.

It's fucking great. One of the best shows on right now.
and tons of waifus if you're so inclined.
i watched it with my girlfriend. i was expecting it to be outright bad and got surprised.
billy bob's acting dives at some points and its really, really noticeable but his character is the most redeeming of the entire show.
the show likes to waste the viewers time with non-sequiters and random shit just because "IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE A TRUE STORY LOL"
6/10, somehow executed better than anyone thought
>Thought about watching the show because of this thread

oh please don't make watch it just so I can accurately assess it. I don't really like the poster and I'd probably have to watch The Man in the High Castle as well even though it's probably not even great tier.
Allakaboom
>>70865582
>mad men
Watched an episode and couldn't make it through.
Saving Sopranos and Wire until I fully ascend to wizard (25 right now).
>>70866429
The fact that it's not immediately accessible probably makes it such a good show. No pandering to the masses.
>>70866174
>I don't really like the poster and I'd probably have to watch The Man in the High Castle as well
what
Why do you think that?
>>70866563
dunno, they're currently discussed here and the only thing I've seen from The Americans is the poster. I'm afraid I might compare it to MM and be disappointed.
>>70865582
US House of Cards In reddit tier. UK in great.
>>70866620
The Americans isn't in an "alternate reality" (not yet I don't think) and it's plot sticks more or less pretty accurately with events in its time period (late 70's-early 80's).
Comparing The Americans to Mad Men is like comparing apples to oranges though; I wouldn't consider them to be in similar genres of TV. Maybe they're both "drama", but that's about it.
It's reddit shit. People will overrate anything where the main character is a murderer.
>>70854802
Season 1 is good. Season 2 is utter shit (fucking UFO)

You may as well say "its like watching a ten episode per season television show produced by FX."
>>70865188
My friend kinda looks like her. No pics for you perverts though
>>70854933
nope it doesn't since i'm from belgium and it is still one of the best shows airing atm. a few notches below the great 4. the sopranos, deadwood, rome and the wire. but it is up there with man men, the americans, banshee, boardwalk empire, true detective s01, eastbound & down, peaky blinders.
>>70854802
One of the greatest shows of all time, easily.

but sorry BB is much better than better call saul. i was so hype for it and season 2 but i dunno. i tjust doesn't happen and the finale was s hit. nobody can deny
>>70870273
I'd rather be a pleb. But I do love oz. They really need to remaster it...
>>70861032
