HE WAS ON THE MOON ALL ALONG!!!
most people don't know that clones have a shorter life span. this is why you don't hear about cloning. all the dolly clones died.
also solid snake.
The movie was a allegory for the film industry. The main character insists he is the real thing when he is simply a poor copy to be repeatedly used and discarded.
>>70810118
it's literally what OP is saying
>>70809902
watch oblivion, the sequel.

No I don't do drugs
>>70810008
how high were you? there was 2 clones. wasn't hard.
>>70810319
What? How do you make a copy of a person, and then why would you put them on the moon? Also why was that robot there?
>>70810389
dude, you make a clone by taking dna and putting it into a empty egg, and implanting it in a surrogate. check up dolly the sheep. we've done it. the clones which were many, died sooner then the original.
>>70810607
they were harvesting a special type of Helium which is "theoretically" a powerful energy source, which in this movie they was.
The moons surface is covered with Helium 4 or whatever...
YOU REALLY DIDN'T PAY ATTENTION. it's actually quite a good movie, and stands up alongside The Martian and Interstellar.

>make a cloning facility
>send it to the moon
>set up clone facility and mining base
>clone one man many times
>keep the clone secret
>send one clone out at a time to work the station for his whole lifespan, thinking he's a normal human on a moon mining mission who will return home soon
>whenever the clone dies for whatever reason, send another clone out to replace him
>eventually one clone finds another then discovers the cloning facility, and the fact that he's just a single clone of many meant to run the moon base by themselves forever
>mental breakdowns and shit
Actually a good, but morally ambiguous way to run an extra-terrestrial base.
Ok so we can all agree that moon was pretty confusing but what about pic related? Why didn't they just call for help or leave, they had a fucking helicopter right?
>>70811090
They call for help. The Thing destroys their helicopter.

>No, it was pretty confusing

>>70809902
Oh for fuck sake. MASSIVE SPOILERS AHEAD - ITS A GOOD MOVIE WATCH IT AND DON'T READ THIS SHIT.It's the far future - Cloning legit works, but the clones don't last real long. Their body parts fail pretty fast
So, the Earth needs energy. Turns out some shit on the moon has been blasted by sunlight so hard it contains a bunch of energy - Like batteries. We want that on Earth - so we dig it up, and send it to Earth by ship.
Now, someone has to run the shit on the Moon. Someone has to actually do the digging. Fun fact: no one wants to be the guy that has to live their whole life on the shitty boring Moon. So - take a dude - clone the shit out of him. Take those clones, one at a time, and tell them to do the mining, and tell them in a couple of month they get to go home back to Earth. They don't know their body doesn't last long - they don't know they're gonna die soon - in fact they don't know anything at all - you get to wake them up, tell them whatever you want, and let them do their thing. And if they die? Fuck em'. Take the dead body, get rid of it, unfreeze the next clone. Easy.
In the movie one of the clones finds out he's a clone, finds out his memories aren't real, finds out it's the far future rather than the year he thought, finds out the people he remembers from the memories of the original pre-cloned guy are all dead or older, and finds out that no one on Earth knows about this whole fucked up shit that's going on with the clones. So, he decides to stick himself in a ship and shoot off to Earth where he plans on going full tinfoil hat and blowing the secret wide open.
END. (you retard).

Memes aside, I understood the plot to pic related but I never understood the appeal of it
>>70811896
But wouldn't they eventually run out of twins? Doesn't make sense there can only be two twins so what are they going to do when both die? Do they just plan on training twins to work on the moon? There aren't enough twins in the world to keep that operation going
>>70812062
Who said shit abot twins? Clones fucktard

>>70812525
It appears he already has.
>>70809902
Yeah i can't wrap my head around getting a positive net energy from mining helium 3 on the moon when the concentrations in the regolith are at best 50 parts per billion, and you'd have to move over 100 million tons of ore to recover one ton of helium 3.
Decent flick otherwise.
>>70811087
It seemed like an overtly complicated and expensive way to run a base that is only as far away as our moon.

This movie would have made way more sense if the entire moon base operation was an experiment.
Literally it could have been the study of a clone performance or the study of how the human psyche reacts to shocking secrets,
Hell it could have even been something like: dude who thinks he's a human moon miner was an A.I. being beta tested in a computer simulated moon base. (personal favourite).
