I think you're being a little harsh. It's not garbage. Rowling has definitely created an interesting world and story, she just lacks the real skills it takes to be a great writer. The books and films are so well loved because the characters really are quite well written and lovable, and the story and world are charming, in many people's opinions, well, unless you're one of those /tv/ contrarians who puts a ban on fun, or if you just happen to dislike it all anyway.
I personally only really like the first two films. They're just a lot of fun and feel magical. After that though, the magic is gone and we're left with a very dull, dark and repetitive atmosphere and it eventually becomes hard to tell the films apart because they're all so samey.

The movie was a shallow, failed immitation of that. PoA is an example of how to adapt a book to film, while effectively changing some aspects for the medium shift, that was fantastic.

I didn't like the hobbits cgi. The dementors were loads better. Leagues and leagues. Harry potter actually has pretry great cgi they used it tastefully in the latter ones. Most of it is seemless.
