Enterprise is great, I don't get all the hate it gets. You think this place, or a direct successor, will exist in the 22nd century?

But I guess if Rome could be cancelled...
>>
Reed was a pleb. Tucker was the film buff on Enterprise.

Hey Rick, it's 2001. What do sci-fi fans just seem to love?

>Prequels

What is it with Rick's?
>>
>>70391292
>Enterprise is great
Enterprise is another child of Rick Berman, man who can't possibly write for his life and had a massive ego. Jeri Ryan and Jolene Blalock also were also casted because they were very close to Berman.

Why is it hated? bad decisions that pretty much send it straight to be cancelled.
And it was getting good, I wish we had a Season 5.

He certainly didn’t learn his lesson about not messing with the wormhole

DS9 episode 1:
>“Don’t go in that wormhole, Dukat. The Prophets will get you if you do.”
>“Please, Major, everything will be fine. AAAHHH, IT’S NOT FINE, SOMEBODY SAVE ME, AAAAAHHHHH.”

DS9 episode 130:
>*wheezes* “I cannot al-low hyou to let THOSE SHIPS hinto the Al-pha Quad-rant, Dukattington!” *laughs maniacally*
>“Please, Benjamin, everything will be fine. AAAHHH, IT’S NOT FINE, I NEED MY ZIYAL, AAAAAHHHHH.”

I haven't gotten to any serious retcons. I like the look, it's supposed to be pre-Federation after all. I concede that it's basically American-fuck-yeah in space, but it's a different angle that I can appreciate.

Guy was an engineer from vocation. have you never met an engineer who happen to build shit as a kid and help his dad with his truck? Mechanical engineers tend to be that way >T'Pol isn't just a Vulcan, she's a cunt.
It's set right after humanity re developed the world after a great war, poverty was gone a few decades ago and Vulcans were generraly dismissive of humans. Her character was right on spot with this. Her assignment was obviously nanny duty in a backwards ship, only humans were proud of it.

When the entire crew turned out to be goo duplicates, why did nobody approach goo Harry and ask him for advice on how to deal with the existential crisis that comes with being a duplicate?

I can understand why nobody mentioned Harry being a duplicate in any other episode, but that was the perfect opportunity to build a sense of continuity by referencing Harry's previous experiences as a duplicate.

I was in our ship’s semi-fresh food mess hall here in the Delta Quadrant (the kitchen was converted from the Captain’s private dining room), and I’m in line to order some Kazonian ham at the front. The cook asked me what kind, and I said “I have no fucking idea what different kinds of Kazonian ham there are, Talaxian” ENTIRELY too loudly and the woman behind me in line I hadn’t noticed burst the hell up laughing.

I turn around. Captain Janeway.

She kinda half leans around me and says “Ocampan honey glazed!” to the freak behind the counter and I just kinda stare at her for a second then smile and say thanks. I’m about to replicate something else instead but she says “No way, this one’s out of my rations” and authorizes the resource allocation for it right there. I was astounded, it was so awesome that I did the only thing I could think of… I tensed up like an academy cadet and saluted. Once again she cracks out in mad laugher and asked me if I had any idea how long it had been since someone did that. I said “A dozen parsecs?” She said “Try ten thousand light years”, with a devilish grin on her face.

We ended up having Vidiian torch in her personal quarters on deck 4. Turns out she’d apparently installed a Borg replicator, which let her replicate all kinds of shit that the ship’s standard complement couldn’t handle. We talked about everything that wasn’t her career for about 47 minutes before I had to take off because my shift was about to start. I shook her hand and said she made my year today. She smiled and beat my head in with a hyperspanner. I looked up from the floor, my eyes covered in blood as I made out a blurry image of a freshly-replicated torpedo being hoisted above my head. Through the ringing in my ears I can’t recall the probably inspiring parting line about duty and service before the casing came crashing down, ending my voyage.

All of these points you're making don't make Enterprise a good show.

The idea, the very concept of the show, was cancer.

No, it was the best trek.

Correct. Every Star Trek series is good.

The ENT soundtrack was easily the best sountrack too.

>the very concept of the show
How so?
>>
>>70397267
Great points, anon.

The concept sabotaged itself by being something that no one wanted. There's a reason it was the only Trek show to get cancelled since TOS: people generally thought it was bad.

The show-runners were the two worst people in Trek: Braga and Berman. They weren't just content to rob Voyager of its teeth -- they decided to drop this shit-filled diaper on everyone as well.
>>
>>70397235
The points don't make it a bad show either though. It was bad because it relied too much on nostalgia and suffered from flat writing early on (like every show). I thoroughly enjoyed the later seasons.
Also too many characters were just plain boring.
>>
>>70397325
>prequel to a series created in the mid-60s, undercutting its relevance and rewriting history
The fact the TOS looks old is half of its charm, considering most of us were born into the TNG generation. Shoe-horning in a pre-Kirk crew was something no one wanted and it came off as cheap and hackneyed.

The cast, aside from Archer and the Doctor, was also abysmal.

I think it was a good show but it did suffer from the initial concept. You don't make a character who's entire concept is that he is boring, that is stupid and completely writes him out of the show from the get go. But that's what they did with Reed

Just a firm believer in equality at the workplace that's all. Shows like Glee, Teen Wolf , American Horror Story, Once Upon a Time and most CW shows always have one thing in common. They do nothing but show off shirtless men in every other episode but only show a hot chick in her underwear once every two seasons and even than its some old cougar hooking up with some young 20 year old guy.

I've tried to rewatch it a few times and I just can't ever get into it.

It's like the opposite of Voyager. Voyager's initial concept, the friction between the Maquis and the Federation crew could've made for the most interesting Trek show of all time and instead, they turned it into watered down TNG with a much less interesting cast (aside from The Doctor).

Taking the religious background, the lyrics are keen with exploration

It's been a long road,
to get from there to here.
it's been a long time,
but my time is finally here.
And i will see my dream come alive at last.
i will touch the sky.
and they're not gonna hold me down no more.
no they're not gonna change my mind.
'cause i've got faith of the heart.
i'm going where my heart will take me.
i've got faith to believe.
i can do anything.
i've got strength of the soul.
and no one's going to bend or break me.
i can reach any star.
i've got faith,
faith of the heart.

Nope. It was the incessant, ridiculous number of hawking, annoying jew adverts which made following the storyline difficult to impossible to follow which killed Enterprise.

They even went so far as to speed up the playback of season 3 by 10%, and speed up the playback of season 4 by 15% in order to put in more commercial ads.

Fucking jews killed Enterprise. It's therefore fitting that many of the storylines serve to expose the jew-like behaviors which continue to plague our modern world.

I've seen most Star Trek episodes, watching DS9/TOS in their entirety, must have seen all TNG just through repeats (TNG and Friends is all me and my father would watch when I visited him), and most Enterprise/Voyager (although I don't enjoy them enough to re-watch the entire series to see if I missed something)

Are there any similar series? I don't know how Firefly and similar stack up, but I don't think I could stand Whedon's writing. They also seem too campy and what not, while I know ST has its fair share of campiness.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T3H0-lv6D3M

Something with that tone and setting would be great, not sure if it really exists though. Sci-fi golden age was the 50's/60's and they're all far too camp, but still enjoyable.

Stargate is definitely alright though.
>>
>>70405593
I'll check Stargate out again, I remember catching it on Sky One but never really got into it.

Is it episodic like Star Trek (mostly), where the events of episodes are mainly confined (been a while since I've watched TNG, I think there was a bit more referencing in that, as well as multi-parters, but in the middle of TOS and you could watch this in any order at all)?

Don't know why I never got into Stargate, thinking about it, it's really similar to Star Trek, maybe even more up my alley because it's a bit more militaristic.

I know it's a buzzword nowadays, but are there any sci-fi series that are 'grittier' than these, yet still well-made and received? Again, reference that Leviathan trailer. Not sure if gritty is the right word, but a universe that feels more lived in (think of the design of the ship in Alien vs. that of Star Trek), with old hardware and faction wars, etc., rather than something like Star Trek which feels very much sterile in its portrayal of a Utopian society.

He had this sincerity and not a hint of "captain's pride". I think he would've made a great captain had he remained just not as good as Shat.

That wasn't Kirk, olestrafag.

I meant for the original captain.

I knew it was Pike, I swear it!

The only episode I liekd was the one with that guy and the engineer aboard a shuttle and they think the enterprise is destroyed.

It also looks like there's some kind of appliance tucked down her pants that causes the fabric to rise up in a mound at the bottom. It appears to extend almost to the waistline. So yeah. I think it was intentionally done.

It's *mostly* episodic, but there are parts in almost every episode that move the larger plot along. There's a "big bad" every season (or sometimes multi-season). Some episodes even appear to be purely one-offs but are referenced later in the series. It's best to watch from start to finish without skipping. The literal handful of episodes that are legitimately filler are worth trudging through.

Battlestar Galactica is grittier but nothing like ST or SG. Still great in its own right and probably my favorite sci-fi genre show. If you haven't seen it it's well worth the watch. I'll say this without spoiling it, but pay attention to the religious themes. It seems like it's lip service at the beginning but it does wrap back around at the end to be srs bsns. If you don't lose track of it throughout the show, the end isn't so jarring as most people make out.

I'm not arguing with you. I agree. I was pointing out that if Start Trek has a manly male fan base than there should be some hot chicks in the show. Just as there always has been. Most SJW's wanna call it "fan service" now a days but I can assure you that Star Trek has always been at least 65% tits and ass and it would be a real shame if that changes now that a gay man named Fuller has taken over the new upcoming show.

If you liked DS9, you'll probably like Babylon 5. In a lot of ways it was a better show than DS9, especially when they were beginning, but DS9's later seasons are superior. Babylon 5 is sort of like a mix of DS9 and Battlestar Galactica, but much better than BSG. I would recommend this above all the others I'm mentioning. You'd need to watch it in order.

Firefly is overrated, but its the best thing Whedon's done and was cancelled before it could fall apart. I think it is 15 years old now, but it doesn't look old/campy. Its basically a crappy version of the mirror universe. Order isn't super important.

Like other anons said, Stargate is the closest thing to trek you'll probably find. I didn't like it, but most people I know who like Star Trek like Stargate. Avoid the spinoffs. Order matters.

You won't like Farscape if you think Whedon is too campy. Farscape's pure shit anyway, but some fags here love it.

Battlestar Galactica (the remake) has an excellent first season, an okay second season, and then it's shit. I've never seen a show fall apart worse than BSG. >>70408204 is a pleb, the writers made shit up as they went along and its painfully obvious.

Dark Matter is pretty bad but some of the humor is decent (maybe 3 chuckles per episode on average). Only watch it if you literally have nothing else to do, and keep your expectations at zero. It isn't like Star Trek really, its more like someone put every science fiction idea ever in a blender and somehow made the most generic sci fi show imaginable.

Red Dwarf is a comedy that happens to be set in space. It is by far the best thing to come out of the BBC (not a high bar, I know). Unfortunately it is no longer on Netflix.

Enterprise was awesome. Hands down my favorite Star Trek, with DS9 in second place.

Yeah, I don't understand all the hate for the show either. I think a lot of Trekkies have some good reasons, but I think a lot of its over exaggerated.

A lot can be also said with Star Trek Nemesis, a pretty good movie.
>>
>>70392092
I still like the bottom one. The top one looks a bit goofy, even for Star Trek standards.

I can't stand it I know you planned it

Honestly, the song is not that bad. Many Trekkies didn't look past the beginning song.

But still, I wish they used Archer's theme instead after listening to it.
>>
>>70412865
Fair enough anon;

The Desert scene with the buggy's was very strange. It was not terrible surprisingly but it was definitely not Trek.

Still a good movie.
>>
>>70405913
Stargate and Stargate SG1 specifically to me always seemed good, but never great and definitely never terrible or bad. It was simply just, good.

It does have the ability to maintain a story arc than Star Trek, totally agree. But it never to me had any really interesting or captivating episodes like Star Trek. It was just kinda "meh" or "cool!". The only interesting episode I found while watching SG1 was Citizen Joe.

Awesome looking and functioning starship ---
NX-01

Polarize the hull plating. Smaller interior, feels more like a submarine. Only warp 5.

Captain Jonathan Archer was a interesting character; seemed like a proto-kirk of some sorts.

Trip was meant to be more of a irrational character on the show. I like the direction they took his character; it makes sense that one of the senior officers is going to make mistakes and just generally be an ass.

Mayweather was a interesting character also, I wish they did more with him, the boomer story was quite fascinating. To bad a lot of it was disregarded and was going to be done later potentially.

Hoshi was disappointing of a character sadly. They should have wrote more for her. Same can go for Malcom.

I'm not saying BSG's last season wasn't hamfisted, but implying it was LOST-tier "make it up as we go along til the last episode" is off the mark. Hardcore fedorians get mad about the ending but to say it wasn't there the whole time is simply not paying attention.
>>
>>70393962

Riker was not the chef. He was there only because he was running a queer holodeck re-creation and took the place of chef.
>>
>>70394333

TNG was a mistake all by itself.

Gay, PC, and stupid.

The NX-01 was beautiful.

That one looks like a nightmare.
>>

It's implied he's there all the time, and any continuity errors should be explained as errors in history (or, more likely, embellishments)
>>
>>70414768

Your post implies that you are a retarded queer.

I suppose the chef also works part time as a bridge officer, too, since the first time we see Riker in the holodeck simulation he is sitting at the tactical station.

Why are you trektards so fucking stupid?
