What did people make of Dr. Who and the Daleks at the time? Was this a common kind of thing in the '60s? I just can't get over how weird the idea is. They make a movie based on a currently airing tv show, but it has none of the same actors and all the main characters have very different backstories, but otherwise it's a straight remake of one of the show's story arcs. Just apply that to your favorite non-Doctor Who show and imagine how weird it would be to go to the theater and see that. I don't think I've ever heard of anything else like it.

Bad Wolf was really cool when I watched it for the first time. I had no idea that season finales were going to be a thing, so when the episode started with the Doctor in the Big Brother house I assumed it was just going to be a fun and comfy episode about gameshows in space. Then as the episode proceeded more and more messed up things started to be revealed. If you lose you die is pretty much a given, but then they reveal the horrible status Earth is in and they explain that there was a lot more to the news station from half a season ago. More and more hype was built around the shadowmen who pull the strings and then they are finally revealed, the Daleks, the beings who were talked about all season and who were stated to be dead, as a 16-years-old that was pretty mindblowing. And then the season finale that followed was even better.
kind of sad that I'll never get to relive this feeling now that Doctor who has set such a precedent.

kind of weird that Fey and Shayde weren't included in the 500th Doctor Who Magazine comic special even though almost all the other comic-exclusive companions were. Now that they have a whole year to do whatever the fuck they want it could be the perfect opportunity to reintroduce them into the ongoing comic story properly. Rassilon, Shayde's superior, is now out there and pissed off at the Doctor. And they could even incorporate Fey by placing her into a post-world-war-II setting mirroring the Time Lords' own current status after the last time war.
