it's not cgi, it's union rules.
Jackie chan can't do american cinema the same way he does hong kong cinema, because the screen actor's guild requires he be insured, and no insurance company will take him on for a project if he does it his way (the better way).
CGI can be used to enhance fight scenes, but not if they're already ruined by union regulations.

Actually looks like the stuntman and director's fault, Bernthal couldn't have realistically/effectively headbutted any further. The black dude should've had his head in closer, he would've been safe if his head was tilted to Bernthal's left and Bernthal aimed the headbutt to his right. As it is the black dude looks like a terrified amateur, scared to take his eye off a potential point of contact. Director should've re-shot.
