When the King dies the crown passes to his closest next of kin, even if that means the crown has to pass through a number of dead people. In this case the crown would pass off of Tommen's head, back to dead Robert, then back to Ormund Baratheon and then once more it would pass up to Ormund's father. The crown would then pass to Ormund's brothers and follow down their family tree until it eventually found a living heir.

I think this is what we're heading for, I don't think the Starks will play much role in another war for the throne. Bran might inform Jon he's a Targ but Jon thinks it's too lofty and focuses on the walkers, and if he starts a game for the throne on his claim it'll be because he's dragged in to it.
I'm not sure what Davos, Melly and Brienne will do in the medium term unless it's just being Jon/Sansa's servants now, and I don't know what Bran's endgame is going to be.

Agreed on everything except him only having a title job. With all the banners that went to Renly, he would be Stannis' best man. Even more so than Davos. All it would take is Renly to say to these people "hey, you know, he's not so bad" and that's all it would take to hold a huge amount of power. From my perspective I don't see anyway for their personality differences to not lead to civil war. It would be a constant reminder to Stannis that his homeland people support his brother more than the king. Meanwhile Stannis would need all the help he could keeping the other realms under his control. Basically they should have told each other they could either fight each other and both die or fight together, secure power, and then fight each other.

So I was in a half-asleep half-awake state, and my imagination was really receptive to what the video was saying and Preston was explaining all this cool shit about Qarth and how it doesn't even have an entry in the World of the Ice and Fire book and how important Qarth could be in finishing the series and my subconscious was coming up with all these cool and creepy ideas about how the series could end unexpectedly.
Then I came to and realized the ending was going to be totally normie and tumblr-approved and nothing cool or unexpected will happen and Qarth was a meme. It was tragic.

This. That kind of unlikable drill sergeant authority figure that appears in movies to bully the young protagonist, but for whatever reason his kinder peers all respect him. And then you find in a life or death situation where the protagonists life is in danger, they're actually extremely protective of them and you see how honourable they really are.
I was kind of expecting on the show (seeing as he was still there unlike the book), that he would have nothing to do with it and maybe get killed along with Jon. To show that he's an asshole, but never one to commit treason. Which could have added meaning to their changed relationship when he said "you have a good heart Jon Snow, it'll get us all killed."
But I can see why they made the change because they needed a recognizable face and no cssual viewer of the show knows who Bowen Marsh actually is. But it sort of spat on that dynamic they had that had grown over the seasons, and made it just seem like Jon should have killed this guy in the first place along with Slynt.
