We know the Walkers are gonna go after Bran, Bloodraven and the Children at some point, are they even gonna bother to take down the magic that keeps wights from entering and staying animated or are the Walkers gonna go in there themselves to kill them?
So enter any discussion on the "worst examples of Martin's writing," and there are a few passages that inevitably get brought up -- probably more than any others, the "more she drank, more she shat" paragraph, and the line from the Sam/Gilly sex scene where his package is described as a "fat pink mast".
It is not hard to see why this is always referenced. It's gross, it's clunky, it's awkward; there's no grace to it, and even the image it conjures up is absurd. It is about as antithetical to sexy and/or exciting as writing can be. If GRRM was trying to write a good, decent, or even non-goofy sex scene, it would be terrible writing.
Thing is, he's not. He's writing a Sam sex scene, particularly the one where he loses his virginity. These books are written in tight omniscient, so the narration is filtered through the perspective of the Pov character in question. Martin's goal, then, prosewise, is not to string together an ornate or evocative series of words. He's not a poet. What he's (ideally) trying to do is convey a particular emotion that syncs with whatever the character is currently feeling.
So: Sam is an awkward fat kid who on some subconscious level has probably long since chalked up his odds of getting laid to a firm 0%. Suddenly, boom -- he's about to fuck Gilly. Losing your virginity is some awk shit. Probably going to be in very heightened state of self-awareness; take into account this is Sam who probably does not have stellar self esteem regardless of his recent strengthening up.

Dorthraki do have a lot of mounted archers, which are a massive pain in the ass to deal with as an armored knight or foot soldier, as the arrows don't kill you, but they'll injure you badly enough to make you incapable of continuing to fight
They would probably beat a Westerosi ground army easily as they would simply run circles around them and shoot them (if they had good supply lines)
Where things get interesting is if the armored foot soldiers also have armored knights backing them up, then the Dorthraki would have to be careful not to get cornered and slaughtered by the much more disciplined and organized force

The Dothraki would be useful as shock troopers, or as raiders and to terrify the smallfolk, but their value as military assets in and of themselves is very questionable.
This is just for the show, mind, in the books it's pretty clear that the Dothraki are a starter army for Dany and will be joined by Westerosi and mercenary forces who are more suited to the kind of campaign she'd need to fight to reclaim the throne. But the show completely eliminates that plotline and gives us Dothraki who are clearly outclassed by Westerosi fighters.

He was worried because they'd break the Crown's influence, not because they were an invincible fantasy Mongol horde.
As he says in that scene, they can beat the Dothraki in battle or by forting up. But fighting the Dothraki that way would let them roam, raping and pillaging and pissing everyone off. The seven Great Houses would pull their support from the throne to protect their own holdings instead of banding together to fight.
If he was a stronger King with more loyalty from the Great Houses it wouldn't even be an issue, but as it was he knew he could only count on the North. The other Kingdoms would either sit it out and tell him to get fucked (the Vale, probably Highgarden) or be allied with the Dothraki (Dorne).
Not that it would really matter in the long term any way, Winter is coming and no matter who wins they'd get completely owned by the White Walkers and the elements. Westeros is already straight fucked because they needed to start laying in provisions and otherwise preparing for the current Winter back during Robert's Rebellion, but nobody had any idea how bad it was going to be.

And if Jorah had been in full armour, on a horse as a mounted knight, and wielding his ancestral magical sword he would have facerolled the Dothraki even harder. Jorah was old, unfit, and never considered a great fighter. The Dothraki he fought was one of that tribe's best, and he still roflstomped him.
Dothraki are specialised in what they do, which is a glorified extortion racket. Westerosi armies are a completely different proposition, they aren't there to go after the easy prey and terrify dirt farmers into handing their harvests over.
The Dothraki by themselves aren't worth shit. As disruptions to logistical bases, scouts, light cavalry, and the like they have value but they need a proper army to work alongside in order to be a real threat to Westerosi forces.
Military strength was only ever going to be one component of Dany's return. The more critical elements are that over half the Great Houses will either support her or do nothing to support the Crown, and she could argue her claim to the lesser nobles and commoners who were likewise pissed off with how shitty a King Robert had proven to be.

Geralt is good in the games and novels but he's not the best. There's some normal human dude who killed three Witchers in single combat, no ambushes or dirty tricks, and he's acknowledged as being way better than Geralt.
Having read all the ASOIAF and Witcher novels I'd say peak Jaimie, Rhaegar, Bobby B or Arthur Dayne would spank him hard. Geralt's more on the Hound's tier, one of the best of his generation but not one of the all-time greats.

Geralt is much better overall, even if Eskel edges him out in one particular aspect. Geralt's taken down much more dangerous prey than anyone else just in the novels, never mind the games where he does stuff like solo a dragon.
The advantage Witchers have over normal humans is their mutations, their potions and poisons, and their magic. If they cut loose with everything they have normal humans (and a lot of monsters) have no fucking chance whatsoever.
In a straight fight limited to weapons? They're still better than all but the absolute best normal humans. Leo Bonhart (the guy who killed three Witchers) was a once in several generations freak combatant, odds are good that he'd curb stomp even Dayne.
Against lesser opponents than that it's like feeding balsa wood into a woodchipper, the Witchers will just puree normal humans by the truckload. Even if they come at a Witcher in numbers.
