It's the strangest thing. The more changes they make between the show and the books, the more I come to accept the show's continuity as its own thing, and the less of a problem that I have with it.
Sure, the show, its independent narrative and the decisions aren't as good as anything that's going on in the books, but it doesn't bother me like it used to.
Like, is it annoying that they killed Ser Barristan in defense of their OC, along with Mance Raydar and Shireen? Of course it is.
But the books are still a thing, and they'll continue to be a thing. In the meantime, while I wait for the next book to come out, we have a fairly good fan fiction universe set in the ASoIaF universe.

Okay, so, serious question.
Is Littlefinger unaware of the existence of the Others and the danger that they represent? He's obviously staging a Northern invasion of King's Landing that will, hopefully, decimate the Lannisters. The North will, he hopes, be so grateful for his assistance that they'll place him in an important position, if not become an actual noble.
And it looks like his plan will actually work, too. Ramsay wants to invade, and after what he did to Stannis' army, it's pretty clear that the North stands a good chance of doing serious damage to King's Landing, especially now that there isn't anyone competent in a leadership position.
But, what is going to happen when the Others invade? The North will be totally undefended and the Crows will be overwhelmed by the immensity of their numbers. Westeros could be completely fucked, and it would be Littlefinger's fault.
